A fable for Olivia. A long, long time ago on a bitterly cold winter night there was a sparrow, shivering from the cold and near death. It fell to the street and just laid there. As it happened a horse-drawn cart passed over it and the horse, as horses do, delivered a steaming heap of dung onto the street which covered the sparrow. The tiny bird was slowly revived by the warmth and began regain movement. After a while the sparrow was so happy that it poked it's head out of the pile of road apples and began to sing: it sang with the joy of being alive, at having beaten the odds and being warm for the first time in weeks. A cat sitting on a doorstep nearby heard this, ran into the road, and plucked the sparrow up and ate it. The moral of the story: When you're warm and happy in a pile of shit keep your mouth shut.

Why do all these stories include we are strangers? A stranger is a person one does not know or with whom one is not familiar. The writers can do better.

Stupid nasty story that obviously the writer does NOT understand the difficult relationships of step parent and step child..... i normally enjoy the majority of stories but the ones where a parent or in this case step-parent can Leave their child so coldly is BULLSHIT.... see i called it because i am a step-father to a beautiful step-daughter.(24.y.o.(f).) ... she is a pain in the ass she caused me so many issues when her bio father wanted to contact her..... she could be nasty at times because I wasn't her real dad and she even caused it so we had to deal with social services (C.P.S)... there were times i felt like giving up but then i had some amazing times with her i was the first person she told when she was pregnant at 15 and i was the calmest because i wanted whatever she wanted,,, i am the first person she calls when she is in trouble and when she has good news i am always one of the first people she wants to speak to..... Even when she broke my heart by wanting her biological father to walk her down the aisle i still stood by her because she still calls me dad she says she wishes i had adopted her but i was the one who contacted her bio father and told him to man up because he had a daughter who wanted him in her life....see thats what you have to do sometimes put the childs wants and needs above your own..... you would never just be able to walk away because your teenage daughter was giving you shit.... i have my other daughter who is mine biologically and she is the exact same as her older sister at 11 and she sometimes gives us shit with pre-teen hormones teenagers give adults shit as a parent its the only thing you can do to forgive them if you can't then you are not a real parent and not a great person... i truly understand the fact he wanted to see the ex destroyed but the grandmother throwing her daughter away as well is bullshit i would never throw my (step) daughters kids away even if i did fall out with m y wife and daughter the kids are kids in this story if he had took the daughter in and made her go to therapy to de-programme his daughter from the cruel way her mum had been bringing her up and helped her become a functioning member of society it would have been a much better story...... please stop writing these stories as if parents and step parents can throw away their relationships so easily It's a bullshit theory your writers have and its kind of offensive to parents and step-parents because it isn't that way

@@markmatheson5659 She was 2 years old. 2+13=15. The part that really got me is that he said she didn't go back to her mother's, and he don't know where she is, and he acts like it's not a big deal.

@@thatonegirl4676 ok i thought she 5 but noted but my argument is that no parent would act like this and he definatly had chance to build a relationship with her from a young age means that bond would be a bit stronger BUT i will pay more attention nxt time ;p

I'm glad there is someone here who thinks about how this should really be. I would be worried if she had money to get back to her mom. She is only 15 and he is willing to leave her to her own devices when she could well end up on the streets. He just laughs at her and is thrilled that he might get compensation money. What a horrible man!

At 15 years old, I think kids still have the potential for change & I've seen it, over and over. So, yeah, I think Dad here, was a little too harsh and unforgiving. By the end, he seemed to be the villain.
@Enter_the_Toshiverse_1996
@Enter_the_Toshiverse_1996 10 ай бұрын
Yes, the daughter is still young and she does have the potential to change, but here's the thing: she has to want to change. Some people, no matter how young or old they are, refuse to change and better themselves even after they finally acknowledge that they themselves are horrible people. They end up being far too stubborn and continue to blame others even though they're at fault. And another thing to keep in mind, do you really the Dad or anyone for that matter who be so quick to forgive someone who treated them like trash for so long? If you called me a stinky old fart and looked down on me just once and never again, I'd be willing to forgive you since it was a one time thing. If you do that for thirteen whole years, of course I'm not going to forgive you! And I'm definitely not going to help you out of any problems you may have, I don't care what sob story you tell me, that and a half assed apology won't make me overlook the thirteen years of abuse I was forced to put up with! If you ask me, the Dad made the right choice. Yes, in the beginning Olivia was two years old and you could argue that she was so young and easily manipulated by her mother to act the way she did, and that's understandable, but by the time she was fifteen years old she should've already realized that she was being an asshole and stopped it. At fifteen, you're mature enough to know that repeatedly insulting someone is wrong and you can't pull the "I'm too young to know better" excuse anymore.

People are saying that the Father was in the wrong. After what happened he was cold towards the 15 year old girl but legally there was noway that he could let her live with him as the mom could have him charged with kidnapping since he was not her father and he never legally adopted her and if he tried to help and get Guardianship it would must likely take years by then she would be by law an adult. At the age of 34 I met a woman that had 3 children F-14 F-12 M-10 and the F-12 after a short time considered me her DAD(Their Biological Father was Abusive and Beat their Mom and ignored his Children). She still considers me her Dad and I consider her my Daughter. The other 2 children made my live a living HELL most of the time and never considered me their Dad which I understand that I'm not their Dad but shouldn't have treated me like that. Between 20-30 years later the 2 kept trying to apologize but it had been to long for me to accept their apology. The boy now has 3 daughters and the girl now has 1 son and they consider me their Grandpa which I accept. The daughter that accepted me as her Dad has 3 children that consider me as their Grandfather and now I have 3 Great-grandchildren.
