+NIRAV PATEL due to unequal sizes of trochlear flanges of humerus, long axis of arm and long axis of forearm make an angle - carrying angle. It appears in supinated forearm with extended elbow and disappears in full pronation or in mid pronation. The carrying angle keeps forearm away from pelvis while standing or walking with supinated and extended elbow. Thus facilitating a person to carry ( so as the name given ) any object without touching it with thigh/pelvis. Due to wider pelvis in females the same angle is more pronounced in them. As stated earlier, during full/mid pronation the angle disappears which is most preferred position to perform most of the tasks ( using forearms ) cause it aligns forearm and arm ( straight line of weight transmission ). Hope this is useful...
