your first Instinct when you do cuttings should be: give some to your neighbours. trimmings this big are great to start a new plant. Right now I have 3 big trimmings from one of my neighbours I try to root. If they all start roots, one goes into my backyard (near to the kitchen) one goes to my front yard ( where there is more sun) and one becomes a gift for someone else. If both do well in the garden they will be added to the stuff I regulary give away. Giving away stuff that grows in your garden is one of the easiest way to build up mutual support in your local community. If you pane ahead with your cuttings, you can root them before hand that has a greater success rate in replanting.
@ViREOLife2 жыл бұрын
I so agree with giving away from your garden building community. I still have people tell me how they remember cuttings from this rosemary. Thanks for the support!

I've been using my (very little!) rosemary pruning to make tea. A mounded teaspoon of fresh rosemary leaves which I cut into smaller pieces with my kitchen shears is good for a decent size mug. Put in a tea infuser in your mug, pour boiling water over and let steep for 5 minutes. I've read that steeping longer gives a bitter taste. Said to be anti-aging and good for cognition -- anyway, those are my hopes! :-)
@ViREOLife4 жыл бұрын
I've definitely heard those benefits of rosemary, too. Yes, steeping it can make it bitter. But it is worth a try. If it does for you, a little mint added in toward the end may help prevent that.

Can Rosemary be grown indoors?
@ViREOLife Жыл бұрын
Rasheeda, yes. And with weather, some types prefer to come inside during the winter. Just make sure it gets a lot of sunlight.

I bet you could've rooted the stem and made the leftover woody parts into a live bonsai

Lovely idea ... a bonsai from a rosemary bush.

I chop it up small and ad it to salad or dressing.

Wow! As much as I cook with it I'd never thought of adding it to a dressing. Thanks for sharing your idea. :-)

Why do you have to dry the rosemary before you use it?
@ViREOLife2 ай бұрын
Super question @michellebarendsen6137 If you are using it immediately, you don't have to. If you are going to store it to use later, definitely do so it doesn't get icky with moisture. Let us know how it goes.

My plant keeps dying can you tell me how to save it or report it
@ViREOLife2 жыл бұрын
Try a rosemary cutting to re-root a new plant. Or take it to your local nursery. I've done that and they've been able to look at the root and let me know if I was over, under watering. Or if it was a soil or light issue.
@deborahluttrell73004 ай бұрын
maybe its getting too much water. They like to stay dry.

Dry it for storage. Make rosemary oil or an extract. A tea with lemon for brain function and paralysis prevention......
