Freestyle and football are two different disciplines in their own right. This is a perfect example of that. You expected PWG to have the better touch as a freestyler but the two touch game itself is more of a football aspect rather then a freestyle one. Thank you for the video Unisport.

The geometry is completely different. As a freestyler you need to keep the ball vertical and you move around it (when you're doing lowers) and it comes to you downwards. In football you move it forward and it comes to you from all angles. And chest control it is a big part of it, while in freestyle it plays almost no role at all. You could see how PWG wasn't ready for it at all, but then he adapted very quickly -- he went down 5-0, but then it ended 10-5, i.e. he was 5-5 after that. Also, VVD has a massive size advantage here, which makes a big difference in the 2-touch game because his reach is much greater and he was able to save it on many occasions purely thanks to that when it went sideways, and chest control was also much easier for him (the ball that he can comfortably chest are flying somewhere around PWG's forehead). But they really should draw two circles and make it a rule that you need to get the ball to the other guy's circle because in this format you can just send it short on purpose and you get a point for the opponent failing to reach it on time. Then you can start thinking about tactics -- e.g. sending it low, fast and close to the ground for maximum difficulty in controlling it, etc.

Yes, there is tactics to this. PWG actually adapted a bit -- it started 5-0, ended 10-5, i.e. after the 5-0 it as 5-5. With a bit more practice he could win.
