MorbidManMusic Why do you go to multiple videos of someone you apparently don’t like, and comment negatively? Its kinda pathetic, is it like a mental thing? Or just trolling?

It’s a long long time since I’ve heard an album as brilliant and challenging as Virgil’s current album .. In this life. Will be listening to it every day for the next year 😀. The man who will single-handedly kill the “drummer” jokes which bands like to tell. Drummers be like … “You haven’t heard ..the drummer .. Virgil Donati’s last album … am I right?”

It's interesting to see the things that are challenging for him. Something so polyrhythmically complex that he can barely wrap his mind around it and to us just sounds like almost random playing

It's funny. I'm sure he get's laid when he wants (basically...if he wants). With his kind of focus/energy for the instrument.....Well, let's just say women (or men, whatever your into) and sex take away. Presidet Lincoln actually spoke about this precise thing; he would obstain from sex to keep his mind accute and more focused. It works too, i was TOOO religous for years there and im a much better player for it.
@ediot6969
@ediot6969 13 жыл бұрын
The towel. Because a practice pad is so unrealistic in bounce they are fuckin worthless. A towel makes the bounce a lot closer to a real drum like around a 10 to 12 inch Tom. I use a big moon gel on top of my pad it works great like floor Tom bounce much more helpful in real playing.
@baxtertniles1

If u put tape on some corp masters , it will balance out the bounce because of the weight. It works

@Joe1839 7 жыл бұрын
Hey, I've heard Jojo Mayer (sp?) say same but for a 'harder-hitter' I'm surprised. Does seem like a jazz (more lite hitting) preference. And - if interested - this is interesting...Lang called it "a curse." www.bangthedrumschool.com/the-trouble-with-traditional-grip/

He's actually addressed this in the past. Originally he learnt it when he was starting out as it was the done thing at the time, but he stuck with it over the years mainly because he wanted to rise to the challenge and make it work for him. Obviously this is a paraphrased version, but that's essentially it as to why he still uses it to this day!

Trad grip looks cooler,that’s the bottom line.
@FLX_AU
@FLX_AU 5 жыл бұрын
Trad grip was born out of necessity for a more convenient way to play the "side drum". Now, with better technology, the need for trad grip doesn't exist. Sure, it may have some perks, but I often see people who play trad grip with deformed posture and asymmetry. It's also just weird and unnecessary. Every other percussion instrument (besides maybe concert bass drum) uses a matched grip! I mean, sure. Go ahead. Use trad grip Mr. Drummer, but beware 😁

He thought i was trying to pick him up. hahahaha. which made me think, I probably shouldn't of asked for a hug after. The way he turned around to Ric, I figure that he scored some groupie the night before. So to answer your question, no, he ain't. And yes, I'm Gay and no i wasn't trying to pick him up. I don't find him attractive in that way. I just thought he might of been, cause I've never seen him with a girl.
