In fact the original statue was miraculously saved untouched among the destructions. During the work of reconstruction, it was in another parisian church, Saint Germain l'Auxerrois near by the Louvre. During the procession ceremonies it was a copy because the real statue is so old, heavy and precious that it was dangerous to walk with this marvelous statue. The real one is now the cathedral.
