Virginia Wangari Kamotho's life after the court granted her the custody of her 12 children.

About eight months ago, the Thika Children's court granted Virginia Wangari Kamotho the full custody of her 12 children. Virginia was overjoyed! Today, she says that she is in the process of bonding with her children. She also has a testimony after another. We sat down with this extraordinary queen over a cup of tea, reflected on her journey and how its is important to really fight for what you believe in.

I can relate to having one underwear, you learn how to wash it every morning and dry it with clothes. My friends do not understand when I tell them that your body has the ability to dry your dump knickers. Today, I wear the best and I could not leave my house without matching set. God has been faithful. Don’t let me start with shoes, and clothes in general, I didn’t have shoes and only one best dress and jumper for church. It was a red dress and royal blue jumper, but my the mercy of God I probably could open a shop as I have so many today. The other day my work colleagues who are mainly white middle class commented that they would love to see my wardrobe as they have never seen me with same clothes ( not true though). They are convinced that I am the best dressed person they know, and always in awe every morning I turn up in the office or zoom meetings. I honestly don’t even try, but it’s by the grace of God. My mother or aunt never bought me pad and like Virginia I had to be creative and sew a padded cloth to use during that time of the month, but once again, God has abundantly blessed me today.
