George is a nurse, not a doctor. He does seem to get a bit excited, when talking!

Hi Virginia , can you please tell me how to introduce in emergency ward . Thank you.
@VirginiaAllum10 жыл бұрын
Hello Keert, Do you mean, how to introduce yourself if you work in ER (A&E, Casualty, Emergency) ? It's really the same as on the ward. There is a slight difference between how I introduce myself when I work in the UK (as I do now) and when I used to work in Australia. In Australia, it is quite common to say 'Hello, I'm Virginia. I'm one of the RNs here. I'm going to be admitting you / I'm going to be looking after you today'. In the UK ' I generally say the same except that I'll say ' Hello, I'm Virginia. I'm one of the nurses here....'. The reason for the difference is the slight difference in the way nurses are called in different countries. Australia has a system with RNs (Registered Nurses) who have completed a degree in nursing, EENs (Endorsed Enrolled Nurses) who have completed a diploma of nursing with an endorsement to give out certain medications. Even between some states of Australia you will find slight differences (some states call nurses Division 1 or 2, for example). In Australia, Personal Care Assistants who have completed a Certificate 3 or 4 in Aged Care do not generally work in hospitals. In the UK, RNs are called 'nurses' and HCAs (Healthcare Assistants) who do an equivalent of a Certificate 3 level qualification are not classed as nurses but are classed as 'support workers'. Getting back to your original question - in the ER, you are generally introducing yourself to a patient in triage or in a cubicle. So, quite appropriate to say: I'm Keert. I'm one of the RNs here. I'm one of the RNs on duty today. I'm one of the RNs here and I'll be admitting you today.
