Kayak Jump Shooting On Skinny Water | Goose Hunting 2022

Early season goose hunting has kicked off up north but for this hunt we're taking it back to some late season kayak jump shooting that I did with Drew. The duck and goose hunting in Virginia started off pretty good in 2022 due to a couple cold snaps that locked up swamps and other feeding areas. We decided to take advantage of the cold weather by floating down a skinny creek in our kayaks in the hope of finding groups of birds hanging out on the flowing water. We saw lots of birds, missed some opportunities, and got some good jumps too. Hope you enjoy!

Oh sorry goose season was in 4 days not teal it opens on the September 14, but habitats looking decent right now. But last season was fairly warm in MS not many ducks so hope for the best.

I got pinned on one of the last days last season when it was 18 degrees early in the morning. I got a little wet but my gun got soaked. Luckily after a few shells the gun thawed out and ended with a good day and a couple stories to tell

Thank you! The main thing you have to be aware of is that you can't trespass on the lands around the waterbody. That's a big reason why we are very selective with our shots when on these floats since you need to drop the birds in the water

Depends on if the birds are going out to feed in fields. If they aren't then anytime of day is fine, if they are then you'd only want to do it midday
