Mixed Bag Kayak Duck Hunt | Duck Hunting 2021

The first layout kayak duck hunt of the season is always one that I look forward to and this year was no exception! Whit and I headed out to a beaver pond on the last day of the 2021 November duck hunting split. We set out a small decoy spread and put together a nice mixed bag throughout the morning. Good job. Just got my first duck last week. How far away are you shooting some of those ducks seems like a long ways away. How much do you lead them

Thanks Sam! Congrats on your first bird! Most the birds were within 30 yards, the geese were closer to 40 I'm sure. Lead all depends on how fast they're moving, I'm leading them anywhere from 3-6 bird lengths at those ranges

Awesome hunt! 👍 Man how do yall see so many wood ducks later on in the morning like that?! We have a TON of wood ducks at our places in SC but 15 mins after legal shooting light you can give up on it! No mallards have shown up on any of my swamps yet so it's made for some very slow late mornings. They were loaded with mallards in January last year though so hopefully they will push on down this way soon! 🦆

Thanks brother! I think they were coming out of the back of the swamp cause someone else was hunting back there. Typically it’s the same here with a 15 minute flight. Hope the greenheads show up for you before too long!
