Love this, my eldest son died last July. In November of that year I had a heaft attack and during the ct scans they found cancer in my lung. I remember my other son telling me,. head up Mum, keep strong. Then the first time of radiotherapy when I was terrified, this was playing loud and proud. I have never forgot it and play this song often. Hope it gives comfort to others as it does me x

I love how he just randomly turns up in a hoody, with a few mates, 2 guitars, a cello and double bass and bursts out a masterpiece on a random bridge. That is the beauty of Ben Howard and his music.

October 2021: I had not heard of Ben Howard until I was introduced to him by a beautiful young man that I called my 'Scouse son: Callum. He loved this tune in particular and the lyrics really do speak to me of Callum's battle to ' Keep His Head Up and his Heart Strong'. Callum sadly lost the battle when he took his life in August. I know he is at peace now. But his death has devastated his family and friends who loved him. I am so thankful to have had this beautiful, funny, smart, loving young man's light in my life albeit for a short time. I will honour you my sun, by doing my best to 'Keep My Head Up and My Heart Strong' although I play this song and still cry but can also smile through tears when I picture you. Rest well beautiful soul. We will never forget you xxx

And I saw a friend of mine the other day, And he told me that my eyes were gleamin'. Oh I said I'd been away, and he knew, Oh he knew the depths I was meanin'. And it felt so good to see his face, All the comfort invested in my soul. Oh to feel the warmth of his smile, When he said, "I'm happy to have you home." I'm happy to have you home.

This is the perfect example of a captured moment that is as blissful, if not more, than the original recording of the album. Live music is sometimes so much more than what the artist could capture and reproduce in the studio. Both are divine, but this here is the definition of a live version that is unique and majestic!

Every Kingdom is the first album I ever properly listened to. I remember being 6 and 7 years old listening to this with my family while driving down to Cornwall to see friends. It totally captured my imagination. Such a special record.

Wow. That is a hell of a first record to musically develop on, you will have a golden ear for melody. Even at a far greater age of 26, it was also probably the most impactful album I've ever experienced. I'm only just really getting into Solid Air now even though I've been listening to May You Never for 5 years at this point, what a masterpiece.

I'm so happy I discovered Ben Howard, Gregory Alan Isakov, The Paper Kites, and other artists in indie folk, indie rock, and acoustic music later in my life (in my late 30s and 40s)!!! Some people criticize music like this because if it's not mainstream or popular it's probably not going to be good enough for them. I can't understand them. Most songs I have discovered by opening my mind to less-known artists and music are beautiful!! I feel sorry for people who cannot feel and appreciate this music; perhaps they don't have the sensibility or are afraid to let it in and feel it.

I spent my time watchin' The spaces that have grown between us And I cut my mind, on second best All the scars that come with the greenness And I gave my eyes to the boredom Still the seabed wouldn't let me in And I tried my best To embrace the darkness in which I swim Now walkin' back, down this mountain The strength of a turnin' tide Oh the wind's so soft, and my skin Yeah the sun was so hot upon my side Oh lookin' out, at this happiness I searched for it between the sheets Oh feelin' blind, and realized All I was searchin' for was me Oh oh, all I was searchin' for was me Oh, yeah Keep your head up, keep your heart strong No, no, no, no Keep your mind set, keep your hair long Oh my, my darlin' Keep your head up, keep your heart strong No, no, no, no Keep your mind set in your ways Keep your heart strong And I saw a friend of mine the other day And he told me that my eyes were gleamin' Oh I said I had been away, and he knew Oh he knew, the depths I was meanin' And it felt so good to see his face All the comfort invested in my soul Oh to feel the warmth, of a smile When he said "I'm happy to have you home" Oh oh, "I'm happy to have you home" Oh, yeah Keep your head up, keep your heart strong No, no, no, no Keep your mind set, keep you hair long Oh my my darlin', keep your head up, keep you heart strong No, no, no, no Keep your mind set in your ways Keep your heart strong 'Cause I'll always remember you the same Oh eyes like wild flowers, oh with your demons of change (Keep your head up, keep your heart strong) (Keep your head up, keep your heart strong) Oh (Keep your head up) May you find happiness there (keep your heart strong) (Keep your head up) Oh May all your hopes all turn out right (keep your heart strong) Keep your head up, keep your heart strong No, no, no, no (keep your heart strong) Keep your mind set, keep you hair long Oh my my darlin', keep your head up, keep your heart strong No, no, no, no Keep your mind set in your ways Keep your heart strong 'Cause I'll always remember you the same Oh eyes like wild flowers, oh with your demons
