It just struck me! And I need to share it with you. More than three decades ago when I was in school I had a music teacher, a tender small lady in her early sixties, a cellist by education and former profession. Yes, she brought her cello a few times and played for us, which was wonderful. But it's not about that. A student who did some good work in her class could bring their favourite songs on a vinyl or cassette to share with class. We played songs and shortly explained why we thought they were good and why they were meaningful to us (which - another eureka moment - gave us ourselves a better understanding of the piece and our likes). And then she played it again in pieces and explained in music theory terms what was going on there and showed us why she would appreciate this or that part (there were a few epic fails along the way, too) and pointed out higher artistry moments in our blues, jazz, folk, hard rock, pop, and heavy metal favorites; even some disco ones. What an educator she was! What two things just dawned on me are these: I real-life watched a reactor before the www was even there; how much you two remind me of her and that's why I like you so much, which makes like and appreciate that little lady even more. May all the gods bless you.

So happy you two met up. I've been watching you both separately for some time. Amy I love the way you break down the music, explaining HOW things work and WHY we were attracted to the music we love. You are the only two reaction videos that I will watch because you both actually provide insight about what the artist are doing and their techniques. Everyone else is just "here's my personal opinion." Elizabeth said it well when she said you are both educators.
@ricktreat5 күн бұрын
I'll tell you why I enjoy reaction videos so much. You only get to hear a great song for the first time once. Through reaction videos I can experience that again vicariously through the reactor. As a bonus I get to learn something if the reactor is any sort of music person, especially when they come from a different musical background. Different points of view are so much more interesting to hear. One of my favorite reactions was when Elizabeth discovered that Linda Ronstadt wasn't known for "Pirates of Penzance" originally. These different points of view are fascinating to me.

What a delightful conversation! Glad you discovered Dio with Rainbow's Stargazer in the meantime. He's such an amazing singer, with a career of 50+ years. Some of my personal favourites, beside Stargazer, are: "Heaven & Hell" by Black Sabbath, "Don't talk to strangers" by Dio, "Gates of Babylon" by Rainbow, and "Bible Black" by Heaven & Hell (which he did near the end of his career).

I'm not a muscian, nor a singer, but I love music. As a member of the audience I want to understand more about what I am listening to, and finding new and interesting music. I get a lot from both channels, they're so much more rewarding than the usual reaction videos on-line.

I enjoy watching both of you and it is great to see you together. --- One thing I noticed that both of you say that you do, is that you choose music by suggestions from the comments received. I am sure that that is very popular, but since you are both interested in education and expanding knowledge of your followers, it may be good to have a "hidden Gem" once a month where both you and your audience explore a lesser known, but musically important selection. Remember that Van Gogh never sold a painting in his life time, but we very much enjoy his work world wide today. Likewise, recently a previously unknown Chopin composition was discovered in a collection of papers. It is little known now and completely unknown prior to discovery, but it is still a great piece of music worth listening to and appreciating. Just find a Rock Music Historian or someone you know that has far ranging knowledge and eclectic tastes in music to help with the selection. Explore deeper and find great music with pivotal impact and/or significant influence that has not had as much love shown to it as the Top-40. Often times, an artist will make a bold move in a new direction and while it is not always received with raves by the masses, it is still great work !
@richardb62604 күн бұрын
For me it's just interesting to see people experience something for the first time and especially being able to bring a different perspective that I normally wouldn't see. Also, you'd think that someone with extensive training in music would know everything to know about the subject. So, it's a real joy to see their face light up when they experienced something unexpected. I think one of my favorite videos for this "genre" of classical performers reacting to rock is the classical flutist reacting to Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull playing the flute. It's like she's in a perpetual state of being flabbergasted. I used to watch that video over and over.

I especially appreciated, when you, Elizabeth, took a deep dive in these typical rock music sounds, like how elerctric guitar is played, what kinds of sounds it can create, different to classic guitar, like feedback and distortion used as musical elements. Or rock drums or the synthesizer. Very important to understand what is going on in rock music, besides the vocal techniques which you understand so much better than me. And another thing about composing. In about 1979, I was hanging around at a lake with an acoustic guitar, when some girls came up to me. So the next 3 or 4 hours I was playin to entertain them, composing about 20 or 30 songs with different guitar strumming and picking rhythms and nanana-singing melodies, all improivised out of nothing. This was, in retrospect, a very weird but happy experience.
