1. In comparison to the Xbox One X, the Ps2 version doesn't look that bad. Granted their some lower quality visual details. For example 2:30(Ps2) Wolf's eye makeup has blocky outlines. However Wolf looks and animates pretty well, especially performing the Steiner Screwdriver. 2. There was a real life Wolf Hawkfield. Not really but pro wrestler Jim Steele wrestled in All Japan Pro Wrestling as the Virtua Fighter character from 1997 to 2000. So a American Wrestler wrestled as a fictional Canadian wrestler in a Japanese wrestling company.

kind of shocking that a 2000 console couldn't handle a 1994 fighting game at its original arcade graphics. I rather believe it was just a case of lazy porting job.

I'm generally amazed that every port from PS3, 360 and up has gone beyond what the bar standard used to be. I did love ports on the older consoles, but there's always something lacking. Nowadays it's the reverse. .

Wait a minute...you could have used the XBLA version that came out on the...I want to say 360 or maybe Xbox One. That way you get a more like-vs-like comparison. I know that version works on the Xbox One X because I had one. Funny enough it also works on my Series X.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I play VF2 on my XB1X and XSX from time to time and it's great. With that said the PS2 looks washed out with slightly blurry textures.

Sorry... but definitively I prefer to play this in the Xbox One X. Better color, graphics, resolution, textures and more stable FPS rate, simple stuffs that make the game a better and enjoyable experience. If only looks the horrible PS2 texture mapping wuack! 😅

Ps2 holding up pretty good there in that comparison 👍 graphics are mire fuzzy and colours are muted compared to xbox. Speed is okay though, ps2 is shifting them polygons at a fair old pace 👍

It seems the ps2 version is using incorrect gamma ramp. The Xbox version seems to use gamma correction. This may explain the washed out colors on the Ps2 version. May be the original arcade used a different gamma ramp and Sega forgot to correct it in the ps2?🤔. An imperfect fix will be to lower the brightness setting on your tv so the blacks are actually black, but is not exactly the same as gamma will affect other colors as well.

The PS2 is emulated, and it's set to be displayed on a CRT projection monitor like the Deluxe arcade was. During development of the PS2, they forgot to change the DIP switch setting to CRT monitor instead of CRT projector. This is why the colors look washed out.

Acredito que sim, ainda mais se habilitarem os 240p ou na captura poderia usar o gsm para 480p, mas acredito que prefiram a forma nativa. PS: Estou na dúvida, mas acho que esse VF2 do Sega Ages 2500 do PS2 ou tem 240p/480p nativos ou é o Last Bronx.

Ambas versiones son emuladas del Arcade, la versión de PS2 tiene las texturas degradadas porque básicamente la consola no podía, tan facilmente y sin sacrificio de recursos y tiempo, emularlas a la perfección. La versión de XBOX ONE X esta en HD y es estupenda, se ve mejor que el Arcade en líneas generales, pero el Arcade, en los televisores analógicos, es insuperable. VF2, VF1 y VF3 se muestran tan impactantes como cuanto salieron, o sea, comparativamente, siguen viendose mejor que juegos lanzados con posterioridad.

Never knew Virtual Fighter 2 was on Xbox Series X/S via Yakuza Like a Dragon. Doesn't surprise me another VF game would be in Yakuza Like a Dragon. So let's see. Both games are graphically the same as the other since the Sega Ages 2500 Series version of Virtua Fighter 2 is based on the arcade release, along with the Yakuza Like a Dragon version just being a straight port of the arcade release. Differences I see are that the ps2 version of the game has a filter that washes the colors out, while the Xbox Series X/S version has bright, clear colors that pop. Ps2 version has some loading times of course, some load so fast you wouldn't notice had it not been for the Xbox Series X/S part of the comparison pausing to keep both frames moving in sync. And because the ps2 version of VF2 came out during a time when arcade games that got home ports, they would have extras. Ps2 version of VF2 of course does have some extras not seen in the Xbox Series X/S version of the game such as, a vs mode, a ranking mode, and options (Sadly you don't get as Mich as you word with the Saturn version of the game but hey, you get a near arcade perfect experience). The only extra I would assume VF2 has on Xbox Series X/S based on how Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown was handled in Yakuza 6, it more than likely only has control configuration. You are also stuck with the arcade soundtrack of VF2 on Xbox Series X/S (Which isn't bad as the arcade music is good), whereas on Ps2 (and Saturn) you get the choice of choosing arcade music or redbook audio (Meaning arranged soundtrack). I prefer the PS2 version of Virtua Fighter 2 as game, but graphically The Yakuza Like a Dragon version of the game does look to have better visuals and loading. If anyone is interested in playing an arcade perfect version of VF2 with a little bit of extras I suggest getting the PS2 version of the game. If you like a game with better graphics, loading, and ultimately either just not owning a Japanese ps2, not having the means to play it on ps2, or you just wanna play this game in a more modern way, stick with getting Yakuza Like a Dragon for any platforms its on, or if you can find this game alone on modern platforms.

N64? Virtua Fighter?! That would be very, very strange. Like Super Mario 64 on a Dreamcast weird. Like Halo 3 on the PS3 odd. Plus I don't think the N64 could do Virtua Fighter...like at all or not in a way anyone one would want to see and I'll tell you why... Virtua Fighter 2 was created using 4 sided polygons. Basically just like the Saturn. The N64 and Playstation used 3 sided polygons so they would have to change a lot making it a very different game. Either Nintendo would have to cut the game back severely or...I don't even know. If say Nintendo was adamant about hitting the 4 sided polygonal look they would have to cutback in other areas. I don't know how many processors were used to get VF2 running in the arcades but the Saturn had 8. Sure the N64 had one really fast processor (at the time) but was it fast enough to cover all 8...I don't think so. Just my two cents.

Further, I know for a fact no Virtua Fighter anything was ever released for a Nintendo console until...I want to say 2004. Sega and Nintendo were very much battling it out when Virtua Fighter 1-2 were out. Virtua Fighter came out in 1993 and Virtua Fighter 2 hit in 1994 in the arcades. The Genesis got a port of VF2 in 1996. The 32X got VF1 in late 1995. The Sega Saturn came with Virtua Fighter in 1995. Virtua Fighter 2 launched on the Sega Saturn in early 1996. The next Virtua Fighter game, part 3, came out on the Dreamcast in 1999. For reference- Looking at it critically there is no way that happened or is going to happen anytime in the near future. The hardware between the two companies are so radically different I just don't see it as a possibility. That's not even considering the limited space on an N64 cart. The compression would just eat into the quality of the game just as much as having quads on an N64. If it can even use quads...
