Yup many characters can apply to numerous (Lidia & Paul are similar to Jean for instance). Tamaki is the closest equivalent IMO.

I had played this game on PS3, but never really got anywhere. Watching videos like this helped me realize that I was approaching the game from a wrong perspective, expectig it to be Tekken with a Sega logo. I actually gave Goh another try and was surprised at how friendly he was to a noob. Now, I kinda wanna try Aoi because I do like pulling a reversal (not that I'm any good at it).

I wish I could figure out why, but I'm hearing this high-pitched sound coming from your video during the "gameplay" sections, making me stop several times to check if I was having tinnitus or something. Lei Fei = Lei Wu Long IMO because Lei is actually well known for being a master of 5 form stances.Shun Di/Brad Wong = Zafina Wulong while having drunken fist has very limited movesets around it,its his 5 form stances including with his play dead stances that got expansive over the years. Lei Fei and Wulong BOTH have parry and reversals built in their stances.Lei Fei even has a laydown stance of his own.

VF5 is a masterpiece, I've been playing it and it's variations for over a decade now and it still doesn't feel dated in any way, it's visually stunning and feels incredibly smooth to play, personally, I feel every character except for one (don't care for Elieen) is extremely fun and satisfying to play as and on top of that, in Final/Ultimate Showdown, my 5 favorites are especially strong, so it's pretty encouraging to keep playing them.

Yep, my two mains are Sarah and Eileen and yes Sarah is deceptively hard to master. The first fights with her goes well, but then she has all those moves that require you to press a button at a very specific time and when you finally can execute them, you have yet to use them in a real fight...and that's hard. Also her Flamingo requires some practice, I did struggle at first to understand which moves make you go out of flamingo stances and learn how to keep it as long as possible. Eileen is very fun, but at each fight you really feel that she is the smallest character. She is not that hard to master in terms of button to press, what's require time to understand is more the how may I overcome her lack of reach...

Sarah & Eileen are great characters. Both are fun, and rewarding to master without feeling cheap. Interestingly I'd say that Eileen's weight is more of a weakness than her reach. A challenge with her is to avoid getting juggled for almost half your life haha.

Nice video, congrats. Very good complement about other tutorials out there for each char. Curiosly the sega tutorial for Taka (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJKnmq1qrNqLis0) says he is for advanced players, while in the description of your video says "beginner", haha. How different.

Thanks. Taka isn't difficult to play per se, it's just that his physical design is so different to every other character as the only Super Heavyweight. If a beginner were to pick up Taka, they could mow down most opponents fairly easily if they abuse his incredibly strong nitaku game (i.e. Forcing 50/50's between mid launchers & powerful throws). Since Taka is a Super Heavyweight, most characters will have trouble juggling him for good damage. On the other hand, the way how Taka changes the game can force the Taka player (and his opponents) to have to be aware of match-up specific things moreso than any other character. Especially since a lot of moves can't knock down Taka easily compared to other characters for instance.

You're welcome! Tell me about it! That's the sound of the PS4 Pro's fan going crazy while VF5US is running. I've even set my mic to cardioid mode (only records sounds in front of it), and it still picks up the PS4's fan a lot. It's aggravating as hell. No matter where I set things up in the recording room, the mic can't escape the PS4's fan 🙁.

To do the knee, press the kick button and then keep your finger near the very edge of the guard button and slide it down. We are talking the very edge here. Do it sort of like a reverse plink with your fingers in a claw position. Do not press them simultaneously. Plink. Not going to lie though a lot of people overemphasize the importance of this move. While it can extend your combos and is a great punishing tool it's not like Kaz's electric -it's just the closest thing.

Yeah, it's a very tight plink. For anyone playing Akira it does feel a little necessary to pull out the potential out of the character, but yeah, you can definitely play him without "The Knee". I feel you on Kazuya's EWGF's too. The move's too good to not abuse (compared to The Knee also).

Correct. You don't have to do the knee to use Akira, effectively. You can 33P instead for launcher. Knee is just safer and faster to execute. But good players go whole games without throwing it out.

2:45 Jacky. I can't agree with a couple. His throw game is solid. Not great but solid. Sadistic knee gives him alot of damage if they don't tech and if they do tech he gets to continue his offense. It also combos on the wall with 66k. Knee strike throw gives him good advantage to whiff punish. Nuetral throw gives him jump set ups Jacky has pressure. 1P+K series along with PP strings literally set up his throw situation and can be useful for conditioning. pp4pk is +3 on block. 2p+K is +1 on guard and goes into SS. 4P series forces opponents to respect you because of all the ex highs and lows. You can do what you want after they block it. Flash Sword kick is +3 on block Everything else i agree with.

Fair enough, it's moreso a case of comparatively with the rest of the cast. Yeah, 46T is devastating on a wall splat, and 64T is a good go-to throw. His pressure is decent with conditioning (1P+K string delays/cancels, 4P if spaced right (though follow-ups generally can be beaten by crouch blocking) though using the FSK consistently requires execution. Overall, you could argue that no aspect of Jacky is inherently "weak", since lows such as 1P & 1H+K, or even Descending~K are pretty decent, though in general, his throws, pressure against patient defensive opponents, and general mix-up game are his weaker points. Though I wouldn't mind if Jacky was the "perfect" character haha.

Put kage's opponent up against a wall and you're not really going to see low damage output. It's also worth mentioning he's kind of nerfed from vanilla 5

I only want to comment that "Julia is similar to Akira" and "Jaycee is similar to El Blaze" does not make much sense given that Jaycee is just Julia with a handful of different combo tools; as a matter of fact, many of us prefer regular Julia's command grabs over Jaycee's.
