This is a great video! I was diagnosed 9 months ago with HER2, and this video really helped me understand it. Question...is lymph node involvement considered a metastatic?
@rura235210 ай бұрын
Hey dear, I studied medicine and have breastcancer too. In Germany we call it "local lymphatic metastasis" which is NOT considered as stage four cancer. So it's basically a healable, "local/regional" metastasis if near the breast ... Good luck! ❤

This is a helpful presentation. Thank you very much. My medical oncologist has prescribed only trustuzamab (Herceptin) and pertuzamab (Perjeta). Since there are a couple of other molecular antibodies as well, my question is on what basis MAB to be used would be decided?

I am 78 and just noticed a lump in my right breast. I had breast cancer in 2012 in my left breast, it was Her2 positive and it was the size of a lemon. What is the mortality rate for reoccurrence breast cancer? I weigh about 145 and am 5’2”.

I am not an oncologist, but my brother is. Your weight is good, you could be a little slimmer, but it's not a problem. For your overall health, use a BMI calculator on your phone or computer, and make sure that you keep your BMI in a normal, or slightly overweight range. (Slightly overweight people on average live longer than do underweight people. But the best is the normal range.). You need a biopsy of that new lump. It is probably not a recurrence of your breast cancer. My brother says that 85% of breast lumps are non-cancerous. But you should get it checked, so that you know what it is. Whatever it is , it will probably be a good idea to have it removed, so that it doesn't bother you. I'm in my mid-sixties, and I had a benign tumor removed from my left breast twenty years ago. Even though it was non-cancerous, it was continuing to grow, which made me uncomfortable. I've never had a recurrence since (it was a fibroadenoma). On the small chance that your lump is cancerous, it is probably not HER2 positive. The most common breast cancer in your age group, is estrogen-positive, HER2 negative, which would mean that you would only need a lumpectomy, and possibly a little radiation. This type of cancer rarely needs chemo to stop it. So get the lump checked. I doubt that it is an aggressive cancer, like the one you had ten years ago. But you need to find out what it is, so you can discuss your treatment options with your doctor. Hope this helps! A petite little woman like you has many good years left, I'm sure! Who knows, you may be a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue model at 81, like Martha Stewart. (you can be in the special Petite issue).
