WARNING: Long text^^ Took a lot of time, but would appreciate, if you read it :) Yeah it's a very good EP. But the hype for me was bigger, than the actual EP itself. But let's do the ranking: #8 Virtual Riot - The Recall Yeah... felt the same way as you did. Not really my style, with the growls in the drop it's way better, but didn't really do it for me. But, it's the only one I am not adding to my playlist, although the last part of the drop hits hard, but as a whole it's not enough for me. | 5.5/10 #7 Virtual Riot - Self Checkout This was a track I really was looking forward to after the Teaser on Disciple, but it turns out not to be as that exciting as it should be. Love the synth that goes in the drop, nice rhythm. But it lacks of something special, doesn't has that nice vibe like other tracks and isn't that banging either. Having this on my playlist, but maybe decide to sort it out. | 6/10 #6 Virtual Riot - Iteration (Interlude) I really love Interludes/Intros/Outros and this is very nice too! Love how it leads into Self Checkout. Sound Design top notch here, nothing to say and it's sooo vibey. But it's nevertheless "just" an Interlude and there are other Interludes which had a bigger WOW-effect , but it's still better than The Recall and Self Checkout for me^^ | 6.5/10 From now on, it's really hard to decide which one is better than the other ones... but I'll try my best #5 Virtual Riot - GOAT Yes, VR is the GOAT, but this track isn't the one of the EP^^ I really like, as you mentioned too, the uniqueness of this track. The fakedrop before the 1. one is amazing, really makes me scream and dance. The drop itself has a nice rhythmic to it and love the more riddimish style at the last drop. But something is missing in there, so I have to put this on my #5 spot. | 7,5/10 #4 Virtual Riot - Insides Uhhh, these catchy and melodic melodies are sooo nice! Right pick for an outro of the EP. The switch-up for the first drop is so badass, really like that and after it's an other track again. So calming, these jazzy vibes are so cute haha^^ So funky and catchy. But there could be either a 2nd drop or maybe a bit more melodic-style in it or just the 1. drop melodic dub than Hybrid Trap. That's the only critic point here. | 8/10 #3 Virtual Riot - Wallmonger Yes, nice metal vibes (that's why I love PhaseOne that much^^), the drop hits so hard, that distorted bass in the background goes insane. The breakdown with the arps are so chill and than, 2nd drop drops... and this is the thing, I didn't really enjoy that much in the track. But build-up to the second drop is so good again and the fake-drops got me, I was freaking out! Last drop just pure insanity. Outro is really good, like most outros of that EP! | 8.7/10 Ok... now it's almost impossible for me to decide... but... #2 Virtual Riot - Hysteria What should can I say bad about this track? This is near perfection, when it comes to banger. But there is one thing I really didn't like that much, same problem as in Wallmonger. But first the amazing aspects, Build Up and Atmosphere are so f**king epic, and the PsyTrance drop... oh my god... when I first heard that track live at Rampage I was like, damn this track will forever be remembered! So much hype and uplifting! And the drop right after it is so good with the psy elements in it! The breakdown nice, but the 2nd drop isn't that amazing, better than the one in Wallmonger, but again not a big big fan of it. But after that, those nice epic atmosphere, soo good and the surprising Hybrid Trap Drop at the end... Wow, no words needed! Just amazing and outro again beautiful! | 9.5/10 #1 Virtual Riot - Save Yourself Yes, the title track got the number one spot! I'm really a sucker for long and epic build-ups, there is nothing I like more about tracks... and this, so vibey and epic and everything, could be the end of the world, but it's just the beginning (Intro). Those hypersaws and then the growls, and the guitar in the background during the buildup, so atmospheric!!! Fake-out drop does its job and the drop itself bangs real hard, especially the "growlier" section, than the breakdown/outro... just amazing. So much detail, and that's why I love Valentin's tracks so much! But not a 10/10... reason: a bit too short, that's it, but the track is so good it didn't bother me that much, but it's not perfection. | 9.7/10 So overall great EP, it's Virtual Riot. What should I say more. But there is one thing I'm a bit scared of... I don't think that these track will be as high rated in 1-2 months. I have the feeling that Wallmonger and GOAT will grow off me, and the other ones too. But just a speculation. Now it's amazing! But you said, the best Album on Disciple this year, and I have to disagree... PhaseOne's Transcendency LP was better as a whole in my opinion! Even as the resident Disciple Hater™, I know that Virtual Riot is one of the best. While not in my top 10 artists, he's an absolute god of production and has an almost spotless reputation. I went into this EP with some misgivings, given that I didn't particularly like Das Riddim and the overall Disciple quality as of late scared me into thinking this release might be, for lack of a better term, "polluted" by the label. Luckily these concerns were unfounded. This EP I think shows his core dubstep at it's best, perfectly brutal and fun. Self Checkout is easily my favourite, so off the wall, quirky and unpredictable, really does do everything right. I do have some negative to say. Insides' drop is the most predictable & dull I've heard from VR in a while, really ruins the rest of the track, which is absolutely great :(. Along with that, GOAT is a little more forgettable than the others. Even despite these shortcomings, this EP is still a stellar showing. I still feel that Trinergy's EP is the best Disciple EP of the year, but this one EARNS second place. Excited to see what comes next.

With virtual riots albums and eps, you should really listen to them back to back and then after the whole listen you should give your opinions about the tracks. The reason why is that VR likes to connect his endings with his songs with the intro of the songs after. I really would like you to hear the transitions!
