interesting to see Cowes referred to as WEST Cowes on the old sign. I love the way you just keep going when other people are turning back cos of the water. Mother nature rules! Thank you for the film Kitti xxx

Have boots, will wade! Haha, I think the others did the right thing. I got wet socks. 😛 Worth it for the experience of walking on water though. 🤣 I wonder when islanders stopped referring to it as 'West Cowes'. I've noticed they use that name in old tourist guides too!

@@kittikoko My Grandparents always referred to it as West. that was it, East cowes and West.

19:29 very good to know. We stayed in Briary Cottage for a few days in the summer after lock down (have over an hour long video on my channel from out the window as the sun set) and right where that lamp is, is where I'd park the car :) never knew that bit of the road flooded. Explains the high walls to the garden then.

Haha, glad to be of service! The council should mark out the spots where your car might end up going for a swim. 😅 Looks like you have lots of interesting videos on your channel - currently watching a bee take flight!

Kitt If this was flooding it's going to get a lot worse, at the moment we are having Neap Tide's which means they don't rise and fall as much as a spring tide, today in cowes the high tide was at 17.01 and you wasn't there at that time, the neap tide today at it's highest was 3.31m and on a spring tide it go's up to 5m, That will be flooding and if there's a storm i don't think i'd like to be in cowes. I hope you didn't film this today

This was a tide of about 4.7 metres about a week ago and this is thankfully as bad as it gets - there's no real risk to property at the moment. I imagine it'll be worse in a few decades' time though.

@@kittikoko Thank heavens for that I thought you filmed it today.
