Information is formed with binary digits (1/0) in computers digitally. Light can represent 1 and 0 and pases through fiber optics as analog signals

The ability to send more than one signal over a single medium. Two versions are TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) and FDM (Frequency Division Multiplexing). A quick internet search will explain these fully.

@@ssultan2609 That one is quite easy to understand. If it’s a 1, the light is on, if it’s a 0, the light is off.

@ssultan2609 it gets even deeper than that… light can also be polarized and the polarization can be used as yet another information channel, multiplexing can be applied to various different frequencies, polarization can be rotated at a known rate and multiplexing applied to that phenomenon, various different timings can be used simultaneously to prioritize bandwidth over certain channels, it goes on and on and I find it amazing 😃

Through Multiplexing. The data is encoded onto separate light wavelengths for both the forward and return transmission.

You can not blend laser beams running concurrently in a cable ; each laser beam runs in a monolithic line . Physics of beams of light is different from materialistic objects . Watch laser beams move rhythmically in music concert , those go intercrossing then continue to go in straight direction . No beam gets tarnished by blending with another . Contrary , if you pour two flows of water distinguishing by different colors into a pipe , the two will definitely blend together to create a new kind .
