The lead railcar is known as a centerbeam (because of the I-beam along the middle), and it is used to ship building lumber. It's designed to allow the lumber to be stacked safely and belted to the middle support.

Yes lumber products do indeed go on that railcar in real life, basically products that are long and don't have pallets as well, since the floor is raised to allow easy access of fork loaders, I've seen them carry rebar as well, but either way it doesn't really matter in games, but I'm sure it'll help with the collision issue from stacked pallets once train reaches the sale point lol...

That type of train car is ment to load big bundles boards without runners on the bottom.

I would not worry about the right or wrong way to load the train. It fits and gets sold. That is the important part. If you don;t need some of the products for the rollercoaster, you migth try focussing the sawmill and wood turner on one or two products with the best revenue.
