EP 1 Mumbai to Alibaug - By Ferry | Konkan Tour | Places to visit in Alibaug | Coastal Maharashtra

We started Konkan tour from Mumbai and followed the coastal route to reach Goa. This episode was shot on 17th sept - started our journey from Bhaucha Dhakka - Mazgaon Mumbai and reached Goa on 2nd Oct 2021.

We booked this journey from Mumbai to Alibaug on M2M ferry.
This journey from Mumbai to Mandwa jetty - took 1 hour time.
Following are the activities we did during the day 1 of our journey.

Kihim beach - 10 km from Awas beach
Konkani foods - a small shop - 2 km from Awas beach - we bought chikki from this shop.
Varsoli beach
Vasco Da Goa restaurant we had our lunch here - this is near Varsoli beach
Shila lekh - 2 km from Varsoli beach
Hirakot talav
Hirakot palace
Shri Kanhoji Angre memorial
Alibaug beach
Mayur bakery
Sanman restaurant
Siddharth cottage -Nagaon we stayed here overnight - had dinner at the cottage.
EP 2 of Konkan journey will be about our journey from Nagaon to Murud.

I'm still hung up on the Spiti. From the sterile mountains, treacherous curves, winding rivers, and Satthu, you took us onto the paved roads, calm beaches, lush greenery, and Solekadi. I've no doubt the Konkan series is sure to be a hit, but, end of the day Himalaya is my forever love.

I am actually from Kolkata but right now transfered to ratnagiri for my job purpose. I am amazed to see the beauty of konkan region specially during monsoon. I am sure harishji will justify by showing the untouched beauty of konkan region.

That's why during Islamic invasion of the north and east, many Brahmins from Orissa, Bengal, Assam and Bihar migrated to the Konkan belt. Some of these are known as Gaud Brahmins. Today they have completely adopted the local Marathi / Konkani language and culture, but like the eastern Brahmins eat fish and meat.

Very good presentation and fully informative. The entire coastal Konkan region of Maharashtra is the origin of all Bene -Israel Jews, who landed there some 2500 years ago and adopted the Maharastrian language and customs but stuck to our religion. Our surnames too were adopted from the village or town from which the family emerged... e.g. Kehimkars from village Kihim, Penkars from the town of Pen, etc. Please try to visit and cover the remnants of 7 Jewish couples who survived a shipwreck and entered India through the Navgaon coast. There is also a place near Alibaug hilly region where the hoof marks of horses are engraved in stones of a hill from where the chariot of our last Prophet Elijah is supposed to have passed while taking Him to Heaven alive with His mortal body form.

I am a Mumbaikar and a Konkani, 4th generation born and bought up in South Mumbai, i studied in Mazagoan, Alibaug is just one of the beaches you can go to along the Konkan Coast, i have travelled to Goa as well from Ferry Wharf in the old days via Damania, but speaking of beaches, right from Malad, to Bhyander, to Vasai and Virar and then to Dhanu and beyond there are amazing beaches, one of them is Shirogan which is untouched Virgin beach and has a fort as well, but the coastline from Mumbai to Ratnagiri, blue waters and again to Goa, Mangalore and going to absolute south of India is amazing , like he said the taste of food changes every 80 kms or so, people are friendly and polite, and its absolutely clean

Sir drumsticks ka patta kadwa hota nahin hai. If someone keeps the leaves for long after plucking it becomes little bit bitter. But if it is cooked soon after plucking the taste is excellent. So many varities of items are prepared from these leaves in Odisha
