As usual, great video! And "O" is not silent in "oregano" - it is pronounced O-reh-ge-no (without stressing too much on the "h") in American English and O-re-gaano in British English. So, I think the pronunciation differs from country to country. But, it is actually a Greek word, Oros ganos. It means beauty/joy of the mountain (Oros-mountain and ganos-joy).
