Kolkata Food & Travel EP 7 | Belur Math, Dada Boudi biryani, Kasturi Restaurant

There is so much more to Kolkata food then what meets the eye. This is the last episode of Kolkata series, This episode is merging of second last day and last day in Kolkata.
We visited Dakshineswar temple, Belur Math, kalighat temple and enjoyed the most famous biryani of Kolkata at Dada Boudi.
I wanted to explore food of East Bengal as well for that i went to Kasturi restaurant and enjoyed the food and a truly amazing serving style.

Kusum Rolls: Very famous Kolkata roll shop at Park street. Kathi roll is a famous street food of Kolkata, you will notice it a lot when travelling in Kolkata.

Kasturi Restaurant :They serve amazing food of East Bengal. One difference i learnt about West Bengal food and East Bengal food is in use of spices. Food of East Bengal is more spicy.

Regarding Kasturi resturant live menu .... Actually seeing is believing !!! In kolkata there are numerous names of dishes (I personally don't think in any other parts of India that many variety of names exists) and sometimes you don't get what you expected so, kasturi resturant brought the live menu. I guess they are brutally honest and cares their customer a lot.

Dear Harishji, Again a great episode. Your entire Kolkata journey was nostalgic to me. Since I live & work in abroad and settled down in Mumbai, so Kolkata is always nostalgic to me. You went to Barrackpore, which rolled my memory back to 35-38 years. When we used to mass-cut from classes for cinema @ Barrackpore. Barrackpore is 3KM away from my home (Khardah). Khardah, there is a famous school Ramakrishna Mission Boy's Home, Rahara (I am a student of that school); under Belur Math. Your total Kolkata episodes has given me such inexpressible happiness, that it has given me a new lookout/direction/inspiration to roaming around the kolkata streets when I am in Kolkata. Since 1985 I am literally out of Kolkata and there is a lot of change there. But the foods are still authentic as you described. One funny thing is that till date I've not tasted Dada Boudi's Biriyani sofar but listened a lot from my brothers and friends. Thank you very much.
