That's pretty cool! But it's confusing that X is frequency and Y is time. Most plugins I know have frequency on the y axis (higher notes are higher positioned) and time on the x axis (like the playhead in most DAWs, or spectrum visualisations, or even in a music player, where the time slider is horizontal), so the meaning of X and Y axis does feel flipped. I'd buy the plugin, if you could flip the X and Y axis in the settings. Would make more sense to me, to have X as time axis and Y as frequency axis.
@TheBigLou136 ай бұрын
Even the sequencer of the plugin has time going from left to right (horizontally on the x axis!) xD
@kevinkearney38366 ай бұрын
Think of it like an eq I guess where freq is on X axis
@TheBigLou136 ай бұрын
@@kevinkearney3836 In a EQ it works, because you're setting volume (primary information) along your frequencies (secondary information). Just like in most other plugins you go along your secondary axis (X) to set your primary value (Y). And an audio sample is for me frequency information across time - and not the other way around.

4:01 Polyphony: To describe how this works, when set to 1 it will only allow one voice to be played at any given time. For example, say you had a long 808 sample and pressed a key to trigger the playback, then pressed a second key before the playback had finished from the first key press - the playback from the first key press would immediately stop when pressing the second key to allow for the playback from the second key press to occur, because if polyphony is set to 1 then only one voice can occur at any given time. If polyphony is set to 2, you could press that second key and it would not stop the playback from the first key press because you can now have 2 voices play at any given time. When polyphony is set to 2, if you were to press a third key before the playback from the first two key presses had finished, the playback from your first key press would be stopped to allow the newly pressed third key's playback (voice). Tl;dr polyphony determines how many voices can playback at any given time.

Wow. At first I was really excited by the different parameters that can morph the sounds in real time, offering the possibility of sounds that feel more organic? Like, if you have one kick sample and you use it over and over in the same beat, it has a certain sound. With this you can create variations that make it feel more organic. That's very exciting. But as I listened longer, to my ears the sounds it was playing back sounded pretty lofi in a digital way. Almost like a poorly compressed mp3 or something. Am I the only one hearing that? I think what we're experiencing is a new technology (AI) just barely beginning to come into its own. In 50 years it's gonna be BONKERS lol maybe in 10 years considering how insanely fast technology is evolving these days. I remember when I first started seeing virtual instrument developers popping up. It was exciting but still had kind of a .. cheap? quality to it. Fast forward 10 years (oh snap did I just date myself by saying fast forward? And then again by saying oh snap? lol) and the world of virtual instruments and sampling technology has sky rocketed in terms of evolution.

what i would like to know is are the 8 tracks correspondent to midi notes so i could use a different sequencer or piano roll? and also if you can modulate the parameters not just inside the plugin but with different lfos and automations in the daw?
@ahandsomefridge6 ай бұрын
The latter should at least be possible with Bitwig, probably other DAWs as well. Not sure about the sequencer, gonna check it out in a few hours. Would be fun to combine this with Pigments sequencer if possible.
@ahandsomefridge6 ай бұрын
Alright gave it a bit of a try and so far my findings are: - The global parameters (Transform Timescale Frequence Contrast Density and the topright sliders in the modulate menu) can be automated outside of the plugin, everything else is not. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong though. Edit: The track parameters in the mix module can also be externally automated. The send and main FX panel not, it seems like. - The Pigments sequencer works great on this plugin so I assume other sequencers might work as well. I did have to create a second visco and pigments instance to make multiple sounds play at the same time, but I'm not all that familiar with Bitwig yet so there might be a better way to do that.

Great overview…. I finally got it installed and I’m using it as morphing monophonic synth, I hope they bring out a synth with this tech’, I love malleable sound mangling. ( I was using Ableton, I put a scaler, from the midi effects before the VISCO plugin to ensure it plays the sound regardless of the keys 🎹 you play from your midi controller. Then on another midi instrument track I put a M4L expression control with Midi in set to ‘ Key Track ‘ , and the assign the parameter for that row to the ‘ Global Frequency ‘ parameter on the VISCO configure panel. So with both tracks midi input armed, the triggered sound will now play the sound chromatically. So it’s basically a Morphing Monosynth . There is a polyphony of up to 4 notes in each sounds , but only seems to work for arpeggios with overtones , rather than sustained chords .
@Garflips6 ай бұрын
I couldn't find anything in the PDF manual regarding MIDI control of any parameters besides velocity. I haven't downloaded the demo but I first judge a product by what I glean from documentation. The PDF shows a scaler window but doesn't talk about it though it does show mod wheel as a selection.
