I have noticed that a lot of people who are not quite so experienced with after effects are a bit lost so I am considering to do a remake of this tutorial in a more of a step by step process to explain all the details. If this comment gets 10+ likes I will write this tutorial on my do list. Although it's not a step by step tutorial,but it still easy to understand the idea and the logic of making the effects by your explanation and the results of comparison before the 10:08.When it comes to the fire work area part,it's so fast and having so much layers that I can't not understand how to do it and don't know why I should do these steps.Those steps are essential to make the effects more real,so please,pay more attentions on explaining this part.Hearing you prepare to remake this tutorial is really like a big gift to me.And by the way,I am searching the after effects tutorial of making ghost rider's firing-skull head,so I'm trying to use your tutorial to make it.

Tileable flame (or any techniques would be hugely helpful for me. I created one, but a lot of the techniques you use here don't work quite as well. A lot of the masks you use make it impossible to tile and when I'm modeling, a candle flame won't work nearly as well when I'm making a fireball mesh that's cylindrical. Wondering if you have any ideas how to approach that instead or if you would be interested in taking on the challenge. Your vids have been extremely helpful. Thank you very much for your time!

Yeah, I get to the displacement map, did all of that, but there's still no change in my main composition. Am I using the Displacement mapping wrong? I don't know why it's not applying.
@VisionaryFire
@VisionaryFire 7 жыл бұрын
Make sure that your displacement map is pre-composed. Make sure you choose the displacement map layer in the displacement map effect. Make sure that the adjustment layer that your displacement map effect is on, is above the layers you are attempting to displace. Crank up the values for the horizontal displacement. It should work.

@VisionaryFire
@VisionaryFire 8 жыл бұрын
If you have cs6 the job will definitely not be as easy but you will have to make a new solid, apply fractal noise to that solid, then mask the solid as you desire. Be sure to change the fractal noise blending mode to "none", and then change to blending mode of the layer to softlight, overlay, multiply, or any other operation that you judge more appropriate.

I have CS 6. When I choose the fill-effect to fill the bottom of the flame-texture (7:17) and apply it to a mask of my solid (which is at the bottom), the fill effect doesn't fill the distorted part from the mesh warp effect but the whole mask! I can only solve this problem by dublicating the solid with a mask at the bottom in add-mode and then fill the whole bottom part. Do you know this problem?
@VisionaryFire
@VisionaryFire 7 жыл бұрын
I know the problem, you are not applying the mask to the fill effect with the compositing options method. You are doing it in the fill mask parameters. But I don't think CS6 has compositing options so you could try making an adjustment layer then masking it appropriately.
