When I was younger I owned an MG MIDGET and I fell in love with it. The only major thing was the alternator went bad but after $90 it was fixed. Wish I had it today.

Hi. A great video as always. Your videos have been a real inspiration for me to finish my own, very first restoration project, which happened to be another 1979 Vermillion Mg Midget. They did highlight a few things that I should of done, but due to my lack of experience, didn’t think to. However, this will not be my last project and having just passed its first MOT in 16 years, I’m already thinking of my next project and will be more enlightened thanks to your videos. Thanks again.

You now have my Patreon support. For me, the content of your videos is spot on. I’m not currently restoring a midget but I have plans to in the near future. Your videos are visually informative and inspirational. Will the engine be standard, or something spicier? All the best for 2019 & Keep up the good work. 👍🏻

Thank you for your support and encouragement! The engine in our project car will either be a hopped up 1500 or something spicier as you say!

At 1.41 it becomes obvious that your too passionate! A scotchpad is far quicker says me who is guide coating and flatting ALL surfaces on his TR6 tub!! 2.41 that colour is quite translucent, l thought it would cover much quicker.

Patreon? Don't the customers pay you? You may want to hid the expensive Snap On tool chest if you are looking for viewers to support you.

Why would any customer pay for a KZbin video? It’s not for the customers, it’s for the thousands of people who enjoy them. Have you ever tried to run a classic workshop? You have no idea how I got that tool chest, why would hiding it make a blind bit of difference to someone who enjoys the videos and wants to support my efforts to produce them?

I am at a loss on this entire series. How much did the restoration cost? It seems like they are spending $25K on $10K car at best. I know people spend money on stupid things and ways, unless the particular car had sentimental value, someone robbed a customer. Why wouldn't someone just pick up one with less damage and rust?

Without the facts it’s extremely unfair to suggest someone robbed a customer. The total job was £5000. I’ll accept your apology.

I am sorry, but spending $6000 on restoration + value of car $3000 (est) on a car that is worth $10K doesn't make sense to me. How many total hours? Here in the US, I think $100/hr labor. So, your telling me you did all this work in 60 hours of labor and no cost of materials? The numbers just don't add up to me. Assuming $2000 in parts, that leaves 40 hours of labor? If I am wrong, then I am sorry.

Yes you could buy another car, however there aren’t many 70s cars that are not hiding rust, remember this is the UK. So it makes sense to do a full restore without spending out on a replacement vehicle which will need the same work. At least this way you know exactly what’s under shiny paint. Makes sense to me.

Apparently, the owner wanted to spend the money to have the car that they desired. They would not have hired a restoration garage without an estimate to begin and finish the work thinking that it would only be a few thousand dollars (pounds). The owner had to know what they were getting into. Sentimentality does play a huge amount into a resto. The owner probably did pay way more than you or I would have, but he/she got the car he/she wanted.
