Do you go inside a building at anytime in this game? I’m about 4 hrs in and gone into two cities but have yet to inside a single building.
@chrishyde31304 ай бұрын
Hey. To be fair you don’t actually enter buildings in villages or towns much in this game. And when you do they are treated as mini separate areas rather than just a building interior. Most shopkeepers etc will just be at a market stall etc so you don’t need to venture inside buildings as much this time around and the meridians negate the need for an inn or equivalent.

Secret of mana was fun at the time but the battle system is antiquated by today's standards. Trials was a good improvement on that battle system and I think the remake modernized it well. Visions here looks like a timid evolution of the Trials remake but it is a good baseline for moving forward into a unique direction. Maybe multiplayer? Online Coop would make a game like this sell like hotcakes. With a simple RPG like this it would be easy to balance as well.

tried demo before release and it was ok(hard to know if the game picks up after 2h i could play the demo)But i would guess that the game do get on to a more classisc speed im used to.. Still waiting for a discount on this game-80 euro/usd is a bit(really very extremly to much) for a game like this so i usually wait and get the "better" games or AAA games w more replayability after 1st playthrough! Thanx for video(luckely i think there will be a steam sale soon again+hope this game will have a discount then !)

Secret of mana still sets the bar in many ways for action rpgs. I don't imagine this will have the same punch for me but I'm sure I will enjoy it for what it is and appreciate the nostalgic world.

@chrishyde3130 I meant more like a pixel remaster or maybe even 2.5d. I actually enjoyed the remake and beat it on ps4 and steam but let's be real, it was a mobile game ported to consoles.
@chrishyde31304 ай бұрын

No hate, but obviously I disagree given Secret of Mana is my favourite game. I do agree Trials has a clever story implemented in a unique way through the characters you choose, but I still think Secret is a better game thanks to the world, music, sense of adventure, and sad ending. Sadly the remake we got didn’t do it justice at all, unlike Trials. Thanks for your comment. 😊

Honestly, this is what I would expect out of a Mana game. I might get hate from fans for saying this, but Secret of Mana wasn't that great to begin with since it's story, characters, and gameplay have not aged well at all. Trials of Mana is a HUGE improvement and the far better game though.
@vvolfflovv4 ай бұрын
what aspects of these do you feel aged poorly?

@@vvolfflovv Not my video, but I think it sums it up perfectly. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGLblqWGhNWCi6M A gripe I have that is not mentioned in the video is the horrible grinding for the best equipment towards the end of the game. Once I got them, I just wanted to be done with the game. Don't get me wrong, I think Secret of Mana is a great game, but I've played better on the SNES.

Each to their own I guess. It’s an all timer for me and I enjoy playing it even now. Just something about the characters, sense of adventure, music, overarching story grabbed me back then and I still love it now.

A lot of what was innovative at the time no longer is for a start: You had mode 7 travel in canon ball and flammie. The ring system which other games then copied and innovated on. Multiplayer with 2 other friends. Magic attacks in an action RPG was rare at the time. All this has been bettered but at the time it was pretty groundbreaking. The music is top tier and has aged beautifully. Super Play magazine rated it their best game on the SNES. Sadly, many say the game overall hasn’t aged as well as Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy 6 (3 at the time). And it largely gets forgotten how it was one of the best games on the SNES. I think it’s important to recognise its impact though.
@chrishyde31304 ай бұрын
@@makasete30I think this is the point. For 1993 this game was very special and so many games borrowed (and bettered) its innovations of the time. It doesn’t become bad because of video game progress but I understand why some people prefer to play modern games or games with more modern staples of the genre in them. I personally still love Secret of Mana though. Used to love Super Play too! 😅

@@drunkhusband6257 I strongly disagree, hence the review, but to each their own. Visions is actually quite similar to the Trials of Mana remake in terms of its gameplay so I’m not sure how you could say it’s trash compared to recent series releases.
