Visions of the Universe: Four Centuries of Discovery, Chandra X-ray Telescope Animation

In this video animation, two galaxies are modeled as they collide and merge. This animation is related to the Chandra x-ray telescope and is part of the Visions of the Universe: Four Centuries of Discovery series, an educational program that was the result of a collaboration between the Space Telescope Science Institute, the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, and the American Library Association, created with funding from NASA. The video was created with a Sorenson Vector Quantizer 3 codec in a Quicktime wrapper in 2008. Videos are from the Science Media Group, which was in operation at Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and the Harvard College Observatory from 1989 to 2013.
