To see how much the native people loved him is SO heart-rending. Especially them trekking 1,500 miles, carrying his body to the coast so it could go by ship to England - this brings tears to my eyes. So much like the love the Native Americans had for 1750's missionary David Brainerd. Those native American tribes cried when David left them because he had gotten sick (and would die shortly) with tuberculosis.

I think mention should be made of the lack of financial and social support for Livingston’s wife, after she returned to Scotland, the London Missionary Society , virtually ignored her impoverished conditions. Eventually good friends of Livingston did that. Likewise Chuma & Susu with a few others who carried Livingston’s body to the coast , where turned away with minimal recognition or monetary help. Only much later was that put right and the pair were brought to the UK. His daughter Agnes went out to Nyasaland , as a celebration of her father’s work and met two or three, elderly slaves who had been freed by him, as children and one remarked ‘ he had blue eyes and we knew he loved us’. Livingston has them fed for several days, then escorted back to their villages . God Bless this good man and his wife Mary. 🇲🇼🏴

Dr David Livingstone was a European or "Whiteman" that could be truly described as a "Friend of Africa"! Unfortunately, he has not been given the place he deserves. In their reaction to the injustices of colonialism, African nationalists forgot to mention that one European stood out as a friend of Africa. African historians are yet to give David Livingstone his rightful place.

Livingstone was a good man with a love for the African. Slavery was a burden on Livingstone. He was a good man which the Africans could see. Slavery then was like abortion today. Could we have Spirit filled people who will challenge abortion in the same way as Livingstone challenged slavery ? The need is urgent. WHO claims more than 50,000,000 babies are killed worldwide each year. Who will shout for the unborn baby ? See : Rachel’s Vineyard, a healing weekend of Jesus Christ’s forgiveness for those harmed by abortion. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God , have mercy on me a sinner.

Mary Moffat was left in London. She only knew Africa, and became alcoholic probably in depression, while Livingstone was the hero for the church in Africa. His son later died in a prison in America during the civil war, as a paid conscript. During his journeys in the Malawi area he was often offered young boys as slaves by local tribes. Perhaps orphans who are to this day fairly unprotected in some parts of Africa. The Moffats retired back in Britain, they weren't completely committed to Africa as one would imagine. These are some reality checks.

By far the most famous person in my family tree. I'm pleased to know that he abhored the slave trade. Clearly an extraordinarily intelligent man with a deep respect for the people of Africa. And he had brass balls considering the brutality and inhospitable nature of the land he explored. (I'd never want to meet "The Penis Cutting Tribe") I hope his influence on the continent was ultimately positive.

The Advertisement for "The Chosen" at video minute 46:26: Jesus Christ was not chosen from among a group of eligible humans. He was God before he was born on the planet. Athiest probably don't want the uneducated to know that because it proves there is a place called heaven, outside of our planet. It proves we have a divine creator and a eternal father. I am now reading the book, "MISSIONARY LIFE AMONG THE CANNIBALS, author George Patterson. It's from a diary of one of the first Christian missionaries in the 17th century to go to the Islands in the South Pacific region, because he was certain that Jesus wanted him to risk his material life, and the lives of his wife and children, in order to save the souls of the "dirty savages" ... his words, not mine. According to his diary, many of those Christian missionaries were killed, and their flesh eaten by the natives. You can believe that Jesus was watching from the spirit realm, and was proud that those missionaries were going to have their souls rewarded in heaven for living up to Jesus' expectations ... but I will not. I left all religious teaching behind at age 70, and now believe that I am whole, just as I am, and that the universe always existed, no creator involved

African leader Jomo Kenyatta said: "When the missionaries arrived, the Africans had the land and the missionaries had the Bible. They taught us how to pray with our eyes closed. When we opened them, they had the land and we had the Bible". While the majority of religious believers are good and sincere in their beliefs, the powerful, wealthy religious institutions are firmly embedded with the ruling elites in every religious country. Humanity will be much better served when the majority accepts the fact the Bible is based on a fictional 6,000 year-old Earth where Neanderthals never existed. In the real world, most people have some Neanderthal DNA because our human ancestors mated with Neanderthals and Africans whose ancestors have never left Africa have no Neanderthal DNA. But religion still thrives because of its very real attributes for its many powerful, wealthy vested interests i.e. mega cash-cow and powerful tool of political control. All because, no evidence is required by believers to support religious claims. Tragic for truth, facts, justice, peace etc. Tragic for humanity.

Livingiston is a great explorer that we studied in history. He did a great job, was interested in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and that was great. But he was also interested in many aspects of sciences(geology, geography, medicine, writing, etc). At some point he sent back his daughter to France for education. of course he's an educated man as well. My question is that all or most of his time spending with these Africans or indigenous people, he was preaching them the gospel of Jesus-Christ but actually miss something that I believe could also be essential for the development of these people by teaching or initiating them about the values of his scientific knowledge or interests.
