Well as you may know Karlskrona was founded in the late 15th century as an naval port for the Swedish navy, during and after the crimean war of the 1850s (in which Sweden stayed neutral) naval architects drew up plans in which to strengthen the defence of the inlets of strategically important Swedish ports. In Karlskrona the result was the creation of the forts, Kurrholmen and Godnatt. Armed with sixteen 12 pounder guns each, they would protect the vital inlet to the naval base which to this day houses the majority of the Swedish navy's ships. During the 1890s the fortresses proved to be outdated and they had their guns removed. But not long after it was decided that the strategic location of the forts would make them good spots for lighthouses, from 1889 up until the late 40s there was an permanent stationing of a lighthouse keeper and his family on each of the forts. Today the fortresses are included into the "naval city of Karlskrona" UNESCO heritage site.

Nöjd över karlskrona:-) fast det är mer butiker som finns i t.ex Göteborg som jag vill ha här. Så man slipper beställa så mycket eller åka iväg för att skaffa prylar:-(
