Visit the oldest building in Pike County, Arkansas. Constructed in 1830, before Arkansas even became a state, this two-story home originally had a third tier that served as a look out for hostile Indians. This unique home later became the birthplace for the popular notion of pay-to-search and keep all of the diamonds you find. This is still the policy today, 110 years later at Southwest Arkansas' Crater of Diamonds State Park. Beginning in 1910, visitors could pay 50 cents at this old home and search for diamonds all day on the area that is now the northern portion of the Crater of Diamonds' search field. This 190-year-old home has wrap-around porches, a fireplace on both levels, a turning staircase, and a tree in the middle for support. Come along with me on this special opportunity to see inside this historic home. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpe4n5iPYtullbs
