I heard so many negative things about London before I went that I almost regretted going there instead of somewhere else for my study abroad...But most of what I heard was bullshit. 1) The food is actually good! 2) The city is not dirty, its pretty clean really. 3) Girls are very attractive, especially downtown. 4) EVERYONE treated me nicely, in some cases too nicely. I am an American so i expected to get dirty looks but i was always treated with respect. People kept buying me drinks i dont know why. 5) There is sooooooo much history....If you enjoy historical monuments and museums you will be in heaven. 6) Some of the clubs such as ministry of sound and Fabric were MIND BLOWING. 7) Love the pub scene. 8) Weather during the summer is often pretty good, a slight bit muggy.

Just got back from London. Your pretty spot on with your comments. Loved the pubs and restaurants, but the service was no where near to the attentiveness you get in the US. Probably because in the US you need to earn your tips, so you get much better service.

I love York. it was my favorite town in England. Went there with a friend a number of years ago and still always recommend people to go there. I will have a top 10 England out next month and York is right up there on it :)

I agree, the transportation system is way better than it was even 10 years ago. I started going to London 3 or 4 times a year back in 2000 and I am amazed at the difference on the on time factor of the transport. It was a joke 10 years ago for sure. I am glad it has gotten better, but sundays still suck :) all the best to you and thanks for watching and commenting!

Mark is from Chicago and I hail from Boston: 2 of the best cities in America for public transport. London's tube system is quite extensive and very well run considering it's length (OK Americans picture a subway system that runs from Boston to Derry NH, London Central line) and usage the tube runs exceptional.

heathrow you can take the tube in versus the heathrow express... but standsted and luton are hubs of cheap airlines but it will cost you as much for the train to London as your plane ticket using those, so I try to fly through heathrow to be honest. or gatwick

great point about getting used to looking the opposite way for traffic! I caught myself almost stepping out into traffic several times because my brain was so stuck on the way the traffic is here in Canada (same as US). had thought about renting a car as we were staying outside the city but after seeing how much of an adjustment it was just to cross the street safely and being a passenger in my friend's car, there is no way my brain would have been able to adjust to driving on the "wrong" side of the road!

I agree. I dated an English girl for about 3 years and we went every where we could in England. My favorite city was York in the north and I loved going to all the different districts. We would rent homes from the national trust and stay in these great villages.

Hi I'm a Londoner from Paddington although I haven't lived there for almost thirty years, The food has changed a lot over the years as you say it is more international, it is a great place culturally but if you are looking for Shakespeare there are the Theatres plus the globe. Munich is my home now and I wouldn't move for all the tea in China.

The people in London are SO great too. So friendly! (I just got back from a London/Paris trip), I also LOVE that people there aren't afraid to get "cheeky" and feisty if need be. I see a lot of the "things to hate" involve the expenses. Would it be safe to say that all of Europe is very expensive compared to the US? I also gather that it's particularly expensive the more North you go? Honestly my dream European trips are a UK (Britain) and Germany visit. Specific to this video however, what would be a better city to get a more "British experience" in?

London is the best if you don't mind the price but there others for a British-Scottish feel go to Glasgow

Berlin is not so expensive, also Eastern Europe is not expensive. Scandinavia, Finland and Switzerland are expensive. I think that London is a bit cheaper than NY. You can check the prices of accomodation on booking.com or similar sites or you can book a hostel instead of a hotel to save money. Europe is very diverse, some countries are really poor (Ukraine, Albania...) and other countries (Sweden, Switzerland...) are rich, so it is hard to compare it with the US.

If you want British English, visit one the really old cities such as York, Durham, Oxford, Bath etc, alternatively stay in a town rather than a city, like Harrogate.

Europe is pretty cheap to eat and drink when you are there.. 2 great places to visit are Belgium & Germany for food and of course the beers..

I grew up in the UK and every time I go to America I still have to constantly tell myself to look the other way crossing the road!! I've had way too many near misses but it really is the most simple thing to avoid as long as you stay alert about it

there are some nice places to visit. my two favorite are gdnask in the very north and Krakow in the very south. the mountains in the south are great too. I have not been back to Poland in about 5 years now so not sure how the trains/transportion links are though. they were pretty bad (slow) back then but they were putting a lot of money into infrastructure so I wouold assume it has gotten better. oh the mizurian (spelling is wrong but it sounds like that) lakes are really nice too in the NE

As a Londoner, I can tell you, the tube is rarely delayed. tube is every 1 or 2 minutes depending on the line. The train on the other hand is often delayed.

I flew into Heathrow Airport a few years ago on a stopover to Ireland, was hassled by airport police/security. Got to my gate and realised my wallet and passport was missing. While sitting there at the gate, lost and very annoyed at our long time enemies(the Brits) a very nice London employee of Heathrow Airport arrived ,breathless after running around looking for me returned my wallet with all the cash and my passport. London is very multi cultural even more than new York apparently. Think it makes it dynamic and interesting and helped create an impressive world city. If you're looking for more britishness and old pretty places then go to Oxford, Cambridge, Bath (all about an hours train journey from london) you could go for one night 2 days. They're worth it. Bit further away you have York, Durham (Durham s beautiful but tiny) and then definitely Edinburgh.. amazing.
