Having lived and visited over 40 countries Portugal is my all time favorite. The food,climate,low crime, cost of living and the people are amazing. Not a known travel spot from the US, it's one of the best kept secrets in Europe. Portugal has managed to keep it's old world charm and not sell out to the chains like Starbucks.

I'm affraid that your knowledge about Portugal is as poor as Jon Snow's dude. I never said that most of the tourists coming to Portugal are Spanish. Malheirods Portugal cant offer anything that spain doesnt. Simply. Spain is a better destination by far. Im not a norther tourist, im from Malaga in Andalusia, far more sunnier than the algarve. 365 days of sun per year and 45 Celsius in summer lmao. Im not interested in beach tourism, the only part of portugal that I would visit is the north (Porto). I know portugak is not the smallest country in europe, never said the opposite lol

Hi, Portugal seems so great. I and two friends want to travel to portugal in september. (a journey to celebrate a bit us leaving high school) But we're young and so we don't have much budget. Is it possible to visit portugal in 7 days? We can take a cheap flight to Porto and would than travel to coimbra and lisbon by train/bus. We're not looking for much accomodation, sleeping in a tent has something charming too, hasn't it? But is it possible in only 7 days? Someone got ideas?

@TheBetsens Oh, and you need to eat Francesinha in Porto! But you cannot eat it anywhere! I know some places and if you ask a portuguese for the best restaurant they can tell you. Because there are Francesinhas that are just it and others are great! Omg! I love it, what makes it special is the sauce! There's Capa Negra, that is the best I tried so far. If you have any doubts you have to know if you are in a place where Francesinhas are served oftenly. Otherwise the sauce is horrible. Try it! :D

@MrJoseph1966 Portugal is up to par with english. More so in the Algarve region. The British holiday there a lot so you would have no problems with that. I myself just came back from a tour (13 nights) we travelled to Porto, Santiago de Compestelo Spain, Sao Miguel Azores and then to Lisbon. FANTASTIC! it was gogogo all the time but now that I am back it truly makes me yearn to go back.

@TheBetsens My Portuguese Advice: Well, from what I visited I believe the best places are Porto, Lisbon, Coimbra, Aveiro (portuguese venece, totally), Sintra (it's magical), Cascais, and some city in Algarve. (they are so so great to take a bath! :) There's Albufeira, Portimão, Lagos, Sagres...) (there's one little town that i love that is Tavira) I think you can expect that portuguese people are really friendly. :) Search for images of the places I said, you'll understand. ;) You gonna love it!
