Hello! Today, I'll take you on a tour of a unique hotel located in Shanghai, built on an abandoned quarry. With the increasing demand for stone due to urban development and economic growth, decades of quarrying formed a pit with a depth of nearly 90 meters and a perimeter of over a kilometer by the late 1970s.
As the need for environmental improvement grew, people began to seek ways to transform this abandoned quarry into a place of lush greenery and clear waters. Restoring the ecology of a pit with an 80-meter depth is undoubtedly an extremely complex and colossal undertaking, involving various architectural challenges such as fire safety, waterproofing, and seismic resistance. Eventually, a team of British designers was enlisted to design and construct the hotel, which was once selected as one of the world's top ten architectural wonders.
In this video, I'll take you through this breathtaking place from a first-person perspective to show you what it has to offer.

The more of these I watch the more I think that China is one of the highest civilizations on this planet right now. Beautiful, innovative architecture everywhere. Everything is clean, no graffiti. High speed rail all over. And no thugs wandering about causing trouble (unlike in my own country, the USA). Cheers to China from the USA! And no, I am not a paid white monkey.

Video Summary: "Visit Shanghai's Underwater Quarry Hotel: 88 Meters Deep Built on a Quarry" **Introduction**: - The video takes viewers on a tour of the Sheshan Deep Pit Hotel in Shanghai, which is located 88 meters below the surface in an abandoned quarry. - It's the world's first underground hotel, built in a former mining site, gaining significant media attention for its uniqueness. **Exterior and Structure**: - The hotel features a glass skywalk at an awe-inspiring height of -88 meters, offering a breathtaking view. - The glass walkway is exceptionally sturdy and safe, providing a unique experience. - The construction of the glass skywalk posed significant engineering challenges due to being built along the rock face. **Interior and Design**: - While the hotel may not appear as extravagant as expected, the glass reflects the sky's light, limiting the view of the landscape below. - There is an artificial lake, but it seems relatively small. - The overall ecological impact is questionable, lacking the organic beauty of natural landscapes. Suggestions include creating a green park to enhance the environment. **Exploring the Hotel**: - The video explores the hotel's interior, where the lobby walls imitate broken rocks, recreating a natural rock layer appearance. - The top part of the lobby features an illuminated grid design, creating a captivating effect. - The price for a night's stay is around $300. - A water curtain performance is taking place in the lobby. **Unique Features**: - The hotel houses an underwater suite under the artificial lake, allowing guests to sleep underwater and enjoy the aquatic view. - The suggestion is made to transform the less aesthetically pleasing areas, like the former helicopter pad, into a green botanical park, improving both aesthetics and air quality. - The artificial structures in this area appear harsh and uninviting. **Conclusion**: - The video concludes with the exploration of the hotel's rooftop balcony, offering a fantastic view of the night. - The hotel appears to be hosting a significant number of guests, suggesting its popularity among visitors. Note: This summary provides an overview of the key points in the video, focusing on the hotel's structure, interior, and unique features, as well as suggestions for improvement.

Will such a hotel pay for itself, that is the question? Time will tell in about 15 years, I think, and it will become clear. You can even build a death star, but the main thing is the payback of the project and energy efficiency

Dude, are you an environmental expert??? Why should the waterfall be bigger? So it is appropriate to the circumstances that the builders had to take into account. An artificial lake is a good idea; it cools the air and creates a favorable microclimate for the upper respiratory tract and a generally good perception of the environment. So you don't have to criticize unnecessarily what you probably don't understand!!! Otherwise, hats off to the architect, but also to the builders who built it. Nice so far and I hope quality work!!!

This looks absolutely amazing! Futuristic and Ultra-Modern in nature. I love the designs and how sleek everything looks. The underwater aquarium looks very nice too. The artificial lake looks really soothing and complements the futurism and aesthetic of the whole site very well. The Christmas tree at 14:30 is so charming with the whole scene. Here are some more timestamps I thought were so unique and cool, futuristic and awesome! 1:40 - Something I've been building in Minecraft a lot lately. I think clean and very modern. 5:41 This area is beautiful. The bridge really takes you into the park area so well. Very modern. 6:31 The whole design of the property is so sleek it almost looks like something out of a Sci-Fi movie. 8:46 😲Amazing lobby design and what craftsmanship... 10:04 That is so freaking cool! It's a Water-Printer! 💧 10:30 11:10 The Aquarium is nice, has nice ambience. Love the design of the ceiling, so fun. 13:05 That was a nice shot of the Elevator shaft area! 13:43 onwards looks so soothing. I do agree that they could install some more greenery to enhance the scene in the future. I would too. That would be more maintenance too, however. 14:55 That is so charming 🎄 16:02 What an Ultra-Modern and futuristic, Star-Trek almost style of architecture going on. The fountain perfectly complements that scene ⛲ 19:30 - 20:52 Back into the Lobby area, looks so nice. A very nice buzz there as well! A gift shop and singer performing as well. 21:22 Beautiful scene! 🌄 23:40 This is something straight out of an Iron Man Movie... Love it! I really would love to visit China in the future! I love their futuristic, Sci-Fi architecture truly realizing Star Trek, Star Wars, Iron Man, I-Robot, Minority Report the TV show just to name a few!

Most Chinese people don’t celebrate Christmas because they are not Christians, but if you want to celebrate Christmas yourself, that is your personal freedom, but there is no legal holiday, but businesses can use this as a gimmick to carry out some sales activities. In addition, don’t look at Western junk media. Their lies account for more than 70%.

Frankly, I am jealous of the level of Chinese architecture. There are many excellent world-class architects in my country, Japan, but in Japan, it would be impossible to create such geometrical and esoteric buildings like the ones in the video due to the obstruction of building and aviation laws.... Excellent.

I once read a book that basically summed up , that Japan’s architecture and planning was choked by politics and alot of laws. To the extent of ruining beautiful places in countryside to build concrete beddings and what not just to keep construction projects going to fund companies which are often managed by ex politicians. Is that true?
