This is a video I took February 20, 2011 on my first visit to Bletchley Park. I was fortunate enough to have my good friend Joel Greenberg (retired from the Open University and fine hockey player) as my tour guide and while we were watching the Colossus demo (pre-remodel) Tony Sale comes walking out from behind the machine and talks briefly with the group.
Sadly Tony Sale passed away in August 2011 en.wikipedia.or... and so I could not feature him in my more detailed video on Bletchley Park that I was able to do with the support of IEEE Computer Magazine a year later in 2012 - • IEEE Computer: Alan Tu... in honour of Alan Turing's 100th birthday.
It is sad to lose someone like Tony Sale who is a direct human connection to those early moments where electronic computing was emerging in the 1940's - so I figured I would share this video so folks could get a sense of what a wonderful man he was even though it is hand-held, shot with my iPhone, with poor audio and a little shaky.
There is some wonderful video of Tony that you can find linked from his Wikipedia page that has much more technical detail about the work he did. This is a just an informal happenstance encounter that I figured I would share.
