The gondola takes visitors to the top of Sulphur Mountain and allows them to experience extraordinary summit views without effort. It’s easily one of the best things to do in Banff, but it’s a tough call if the weather is unfavorable as shown in the video. Ticket prices online are lower than buying at the ticket window. This may mean you’ll need to buy your tickets in advance without knowing what the weather is likely to be. If you have to change plans, request a refund or change the date, it needs to be at least 48 hours before your visit. If you hike up the Sulphur Mountain trail, you can buy a one-way ticket down for 50% of the full ticket price. Note: you can not buy a one-way ticket going up, i.e., if you would like to take the Banff Gondola up and hike down, you must purchase a full-price ticket.
From Banff Town you may either drive or hike to get to sights such as Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. A hoodoo is a rock formation created from erosion in dry and desert type climates,. resulting in a spire that shoots directly from the ground and takes on an interesting shape.
