Visiting Falls Irrigation Dam, Central Otago (16 Feb 2023)

Visit to Falls Irrigation Dam in Central Otago, New Zealand located north of the township of St Bathans. Built in the 1930s at the height of the Great Depression, Falls Dam is an impressive engineering structure and located in remote and stunning scenery with dramatic seasonal contrasts. I remember going there way back in late 80's/90's and seeing that giant hole. It gave me nightmares as a child.

Visited in the late 70s before the power station, main memory, the number of gates I had to open and close, going in and coming back.

Thanks. I got special permission for access mostly because my brother works for Pioneer Energy who manage it.
