Visiting Italy This Summer? Watch This Report Before You Go | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Are you planning on visiting Italy this summer? Well, then we have news for you. The famed Italian summer may no longer be so pleasant. A major reason for that is climate change. Europe is the fastest warming continent in the world. Within Europe, Italy is among the worst affected countries. Heatwaves and air pollution are becoming part of daily life. What are cities like Bari doing to combat this? Palki Sharma takes a look.

It's called SUMMER 🌞🌞🌞 I'm Polish and remember summertimes when temperature was 35-38 degrees so long every summer I was out and about playing football only in shorts eating ice creams drinking cold drinks swimming in lakes and nobody was spreading any nonsense we all were going to die and we should stay at home 😅

I don’t know why so many people go to the Mediterranean in high summer, then complain about the heat and sunburns. Even before global warming, days of about 100F were usual there in summer. When I go back to Greece, or to Italy, Spain or Turkey, it will be in spring or autumn. Yes, it’s cold and rainy in winter, not the best time to go, plus many attractions are closed.

I stayed in 5 star hotel the last day before I checked out I packed my luggage first and go to eat my breakfast, I returned to my room and locked my luggage and I reached my country I open my luggage and I realized that some of my things are missing, 5 star hotel is stealing things from customers and the management is just ignoring their staff doing this things. Frankly speaking, it keeps on raining, no heat wave at all. Instead of talking about climate change, you should talk about climate manipulation, or geo-engineering, which our governments keep on doing. Last week they told us that Sahara sand had fallen with rain (it happens often), but it stuck to magnets 🧲, as it was full of heavy metals sprayed by cloud seeding airplanes.

Palki actually looks like an Italian beauty. And wow, she is now doing field reporting. What do you expect from Italian cities/urban areas? Extreme heat because their cities are made of concrete, cement, stones, cobblestones, and marbles. These materials just worsen the summer heat in those areas.

Here in the British Isles, heating still on in mid June, lambing season a washout , crops not yet planted, the Met Office has hardly been seen spraying chemical lines across the skies to "cool the weather" as they normally do. "As changeable as the weather " adage is never more true than now, change is the constant in our world to which the most adaptive survive best. Some astro experts even say that The Gleisberg Cycle of cooling is now upon us similar to The Little Ice Age 1800AD circa of Europe - recorded in paintings of that period showing skaters on the frozen Thames. Fun historical fact: Europe suffered failed wheat crops but quickly adapted to New World potatoes, except for France which stuck to bread leading to widespread starvation and the French Revolution. Culinary recipes like the now famous French Fries were created to tempt the citizens but to no avail.

Yes, I was in the UK for two weeks in April and it was cold. Of course one experience is not a realistic measure, I just wonder about the constant "its climate change" thing. If they left that out we would just say "Its the weather" and get on with life.

Must be your personal feeling. Cause in southern Europe there's very LITTLE humidity, meaning the moment you get to shade or to your home/apartment you are much cooler and there's ZERO sweating. Also, unlike Australia, the ozon layer above the southern Europe ain't damaged so i NEVER EVER heard of one single person getting a skin cancer here in southern Europe. I think you feel that way cause the air is 100 times cleaner in Europe, lol.

@@aprilblossoms4 Just check the Google and stop being a donkey. No, there's 200 million people in the southern Europe and the prevalence of skin cancer per capita (i don't think you even know what per capita means, it's southern European, Latin term) is pathetic compared to Australia.

Europe ALWAYS had high temperatures. We always had summers with more than 40C and this was never a secret, but officially they never used to tell us exactly how much more than 40C is the temperature, so they don't scare the population. It was like this even before year 2000. Don't scare the people.

Italy can be visited 365 days a year. If you want to visit the central south of Italy you shouldn't go there in the summer, at the latest in the spring. The temperatures are very high especially for those who are not used to it. In Italy in August many Italians are on holiday and both the streets and tourist places are super crowded. August and July are only suitable for being in the water in Italy.

This is nonsense I am in Sicily right now and temperature is around 30 degrees as it has always been, nowhere near 40. As for pollution nothing changed either so I don’t get why now it’s a problem and when it talks about pollution the footage conveniently switches to the the North of Italy while it switches to Southern Italy when talking about heat so the viewer gets the impression that in all of Italy there’s Milan’s air pollution and Catania’s heat. Is this journalism or a hit piece? How disappointing

Palki Sharma, send some heat to my house, as it has been raining since April and has never been more than 25 degrees. I am Italian and live in Italy, in the north, but not in the mountains (at 374 ms asl). Italy is long. It has always been 40 degrees in Bari (my father was from Puglia, he knew more than you). You discovered America (but after Columbus). Also, the pollution is in Milan and Lombardy (1000 kms away from Bari), but only in winter, not in summer. You are tragic and talk about things you don't know.

Rome is rough. It is late July here and i have to ask for ice at all meals and make sure my room has AC. Some restaurants don't even have a fan for outdoor seating, only a thin canopy. Even my tour guide couldn't stop for water break on hot day. Why is this happening in 1st world city? Also Is it possible that it has too many concrete/asphalt surfaces absorbing heat during daytime and emitting it at night. Rome is maybe having a rain famine also. Travelers to Europe: All these things to consider when traveling here and other parts that experience severe summer months. Just my three cents :) Only peace and love to Italy.
