Visiting Loved Ones - Vancouver Film School (VFS)

This was my student film. I wrote it when visiting the cemetery near my home. I had seen toys and things littered over the ground from afar, and was upset someone left garbage laying about. But when I got closer I realized it was the toys and gifts given by parents to children they had lost. What was so heartbreaking and heartwarming is that some of those of those children were just so young, and yet the toys seemed almost new. Showing us that no one is ever forgotten, all lives make an impact, and that the deep love we have for our children and family is never fading. My mom is dying now, and I'm her caregiver. It's hard to watch her slowly grow weaker. She has early on-set Alzheimers. I had not seen my film in a long time and had forgotten about my tribute at the end. I'm in tears now, remembering her telling me that once. It was after a fight we had, and she just wanted me to know that no matter what come, she would love me more then anyone on this earth no matter what. I love you mom. I'll always love you, and I'll care for you always, no matter what. ❤️

Really, thank you for this film, the love of a mother is something so incredible, so pure, so powerfull. I lost my mom when I was 14 so this film was really touching for me, I a lot of ways, most of them are difficult to put into words. The more I think about mothers, to be a mother, those who don't have one, or mothers that lose their childs, it made me realize how important and strong the love of a mother is. I have an older sister, now she has a beautifull 1 year old daughter, and seeing her becoming a mother was an incredible experience, it just fills me with joy and pride. Then again a mother's love to me is something just out of this world. I don't know, I just wanted to thank you for the film, it made me happy, just like that. Thanks

My mother just died 2 days ago. All I could think as I watched this was how when I was small, I would sit and read and draw, and she would come and smile at me. I am crying now, but this is beautiful. So beautiful. Thank you.

i understand a mothers pain. i loss my daughter 2 years ago. this is a true story, a mother is sharing her loss but putting her talents to work. she is moving on in life the best she can

It was incredible, at first I thought it was the mother who had died, and the girl was visiting...but then you suddenly turned it around. It hit me hard! Made me cry. A mothers love is one of the strongest types of love there is. And there's no bigger tragedy than a mother having to burry her child.

I don't know how to edit my post, but what I also meant to say was that the small graves were also very old. That was what impacted me so much, was the family's still came to visit, often, and still left gifts. To all the mothers and fathers out there that have lost their children, I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. And your child will always live on in your heart and in your memories. It's a gift to be part of each other's lives. So just never take a moment for granted. It's like turning your back on a colorful sunset, don't let a beautiful moment go to waste 💖

This video was sad but sweet but really sad at the end 😭 because sometimes the kids Die young and their parents have to live on with out their child because life is short and unfair and unpredictable the only sweet part is the little girl is always there even though her mother doesn't know but the child is happy to see her even though her mother will never know. To anyone who has lost someone my heart goes out to you because we all know what it's like to lose someone . I thought you should know that Your loved ones are always there even if you can't see them but in some way they will let you know that they are always by your side looking over you
