Most likely Kmart in america doesnt modernize their technology to track their inventory so they cant catch up with other retails. Or americans prefer walmart over kmart just like what happened to Ford in my country.

There is a legit Kmart that exists one town over from me, it's weird because it's one of the few kmarts that is actually doing well, to my memory the store was always busy and never had a problem. Walking into it is like stepping into another world, everything is updated but everything feels distant and out of place, the electronics section was empty (no staff) and all the merchandise was from the late 00s, you could actually still buy blank video tapes if you wanted to and film. The vibe was so chill though it was like being in a dream.

Man, what a fall from grace. Kmart used to be the place to shop at when I was growing up. The thing is, most Kmarts have looked like that for over a decade. I remember it was just depressing walking into one, a sense of impending doom for these stores. It's finally going to die out. It's crazy though, both Sears and Kmart which were 90s icons are gone.

1:40 if you go to any other stores when they are remodeling and moving shelfs usually theres always dirt under where the shelves used to be. During a remodel the store cleans it, but since Kmart is closing theres no point in cleaning it very much.

All these heartfelt sentiments from people who have so many nostalgic memories of Kmart. It's pathetic. Missing it and whatever part of childhood they wish they could re-live now. Where have they all been the last 2 decades?? Nobody gave a crap when Walmart and Target was taking over for the last 25 to 30 years. I've never liked either of those stores and I never gave up on Kmart. Yet I had to eventually by default, because they all closed up shop in my area. It's sad what happened to Kmart. From a corporate level, I suppose mis-management is to blame. I agree they should be put out of their misery now. The people have spoken and Kmart was not a part of that conversation. I am sad to see it go. But as a community, we are to blame for its demise as well.

Usually dirt on the floor is never there, but since they moved the selves (for rearraging and moving stuff on the last days open) and theres dirt under the shelves. Every store actually has disgusting dirt under the shelves.

Kmart in Australia is different here in the US Kmart has been dying since the 90s and filed for bankruptcy in 2002, during the 90s Kmart was slowly struggling and falling into declining sales but in 2002 Kmart was already on the chopping block of closing hundreds of stores. They couldn’t compete with the 2 larger retailers both Walmart and Target, u see Walmart was a lot cheaper and had larger stores with more variety and more selection while Target on the other hand focused on trendier things and went a different route rather than low priced goods, Target was definitely more expensive but it didn’t feel as closed in like Kmart Target also had a better selection and more convenient options also focused on the youth, Target also had a better food court than Kmart whereas Kmart had Little Caesar’s while Target had Target Cafe, Pizza Hut Express, and Starbucks and the food in the Pizza Hut express was better aswell. Kmart currently is owned by Transformco and has 3 stores with 9 in total they are related to Sears (another department store chain that unfortunately fell with Kmart aswell after being merged with Kmart in 2004) back at the time they had more than 2000 stores at its peak but unfortunately fell after bankruptcy over the years. It’s unfortunate that Kmart isn’t what it used to be but it will still be remembered the only way it can be saved is if they were bought out by someone else.
