Visiting St. Augustine Florida on Friday the 13th | Fun Things to do Around Town | Ghost Tour!

In today's video it's Friday the 13th so I head to St. Augustine Florida for the day. I start at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument which is one of the major highlights around town. I give you a tour around and share some interesting facts about the history of this place. Next I meet up with my friends Eric & Greg and head over to one of the St. Augustine distillery's City Gate Spirits for some samplings and a quick bite to eat. Finally we head over to the St. Augustine Lighthouse to experience dark of the moon tour. On this tour you not only hear spooky stories based on real history in the lighthouse at night, you also help investigate maritime past. Ghost Tours support both maritime archaeology and historic research discoveries at this Museum. And spoiler a lot happened on this tour! I will be bringing a large group to Disneyworld in 2023 and have been looking for fun things we can do on our down days in October-November. This is going onto my seriously considering it list. Please keep videos like this going! My crew love stuff with historical and spooky vibes but very few of us are into jump scares or lots of blood. This sort of thing is right up our alley. This looks like it would be a blast!

I live in the St. Augustine area, and trust me, you are not alone in having a freaky encounter at that lighthouse! I once visited it with my friend Alex back in February of 2020, just before the pandemic, and we got a dark figure standing on the porch looking at us on a photo we took. Looked like a tall man in a sailor suit, but without the cap. I'll never forget it. Glad you loved St. Augustine, because it's such a gem in Florida!

I visited the fort and the lighthouse in July 2019 and would def recommend doing both. There’s even execution bullet holes in the walls outside the fort. I’m a fan of Ghosthunters as well and the reason I went to the lighthouse 😎

Great video, especially the tour of the fort! St. Augustine was the spot of the first ever St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the US. Spanish and Irish priests led the celebration and those in attendance included Spaniards, Africans, Native Americans, Portuguese, a French surgeon, a German fifer, and at least two Irishmen. It was recorded in Spanish records as a San Patricio celebration. I’m an Irish-American from NYC and my St Paddy’s Days have always been spent with diverse groups of friends and family. So, the discovery of the origin of SPD in St. Augustine with such a diverse group blew my mind! Very cool video!

Ghosts locking the door is really a thing! We used to live in a 16th century cottage here in Lincolnshire UK and keys would go missing and then reappear within mins and my husband and I would deliberately not bolt the back door overnight (locked with a key also) and in the morning the bolt was across. There was only the two of us living there and we never believed in ghosts until we lived there. Never felt threatened or scared though. Loved this insight into Floridian History!

On the way home to South Florida from a trip to Maryland to visit family, a few years ago, the last place my parents and I stopped was St. Augustine. Out of all the places we visited on our road trip, this was one of my favorites. I love Flagler College (my family took a tour of the building in this video), all the side streets with little shops and restaurants, the water views, and just everything about St. Augustine. If you see this comment, you have to go there at some point in your life.
