Thank you for showcasing Charles Napier. He was once on Dr. Phil talking about his depression over not being a bigger success as an actor. That has stuck with me all these years. Rest in peace Charles.

I'm a OTR truck driver and I recently spent a few weeks in between Bakersfield and Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. I enjoy doing my reset at the Love's in Tehachapi off Highway 58, so about 3 weeks ago while being able to have a long weekend, I bobtailed down to Bakersfield National Cemetery and visited him!

One thing I learned fairly recently was that Charles Napier did the roars and growls for The Incredible Hulk during the later seasons of that TV show. He took over from Ted Cassidy, best known as Lurch from The Addams Family, after he passed away in January 1979. Cassidy's voice was kept for the famous narration at the start of the show, but it's Napier's growls you hear from The Hulk from about season 2 onward.

Steve, you have a great channel and I enjoy your videos. I thought you would enjoy my comment. In 1982 I visited Maui and met Charles Napier. Although we were staying at the Marriott at Kaanapali, my father took my mom and I to the Hyatt Regency at Kaanapali so we could see how beautiful it was. When we walked into the lobby there were a lot of people standing in lines to check in. I instantly recognized one of the people waiting to check in. It was around that time that I was a "BJ and the Bear" fan and recognized Charles Napier waiting in line. He had a young beautiful woman with him. I asked my mom for some paper and a pen and asked him for his autograph. He seemed flattered and a little bit shocked that I recognized him. He also did commercials for Radio Shack at that time. To be honest, I didn't know his name, and when I read his autograph afterwards it was new to me. He proudly signed the autograph and was very nice to me. Later, I would notice him on an old rerun of Star Trek and I noticed he was in Silence of the Lambs. Anyway, he was a very nice man and he deserves this kind tribute you have given him. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for sharing. The Bakersfield National Cemetery is a beautiful place. Back in 1982 my wife were in Newhall CA and came upon a filming of a CHiP's episode that featured Mr. Napier. We watched and video taped (early days of VCR cameras were HUGE!) him smashing small foreign cars with a sledge hammer at a used car lot! Was fun to watch! I believe it was Season 6 Episode 6 entitled "Something Special". In one scene when the CHiP's guys go after Napier from the car lot, it shows our yellow Toyota pickup sitting on the opposite corner!

I also read he lived in the nearby town of Arvin, California, where you mostly see places to get gas, eat at, and even one of those outlet shopping centers there. Myself, wife, and mother in law would stop to eat at Black Bear Diner Restaurant there for a great breakfast. After breakfast we would be continuing on up to Campbell, California next to San Jose to visit my brother in law and his family there.

I am also in a Facebook group for the friends of the KZbin series Hollywood Graveyard and they showed the location of Charles Napier for one of actors who made guest appearances on the original Star Trek Series. Charles Napier did make an appearance on that show too, along with other actors too. I remember him well from the Blues Brothers and Rambo:First Blood 2 movies and maybe some TV shows too. I think he also lived in nearby Arvin or Bakersfield as wanted a place to live where he could get away from Hollywood and Los Angeles when he wasn’t working in Movies or Television. If he was over in Korea in the Army, he would have been there to help rebuild the country as by the time he would have been able to fight there, the war would been or already over, so if he was there it was for that kind of duty there.
