Not taking the things that happen in this city seriously just because it's in Iowa is exactly how the problem will escalate, and then everyone will try and bring awareness when it's already too late. 25 years born and raised in Iowa. Des Moines has 0 dangerous hoods. You can walk/bike around with with no worries. The “thugs” in Des Moines are just posers that want to be like those from ATL, Cali, etc.. Des Moines “gangsters” have zero history since they only started acting “hood” at the age of 20+. I wrestled against a really wholesome dude from East High that just now started flashing guns on Snapchat claiming a hood after he got his permit to carry. I helped him get that permit is the hilarious part.

Not to mention Oakridge, one way in and two ways out if you know what I mean. I’m happy that shit calmed down in the early 2000s but this last 5 years or so been no joke with all these young kids 13 to 17 doing home invasions shooting each other up even on school grounds. Still think the 515 a lot better off than most hoods in the Midwest but to say we don’t have shooters here that wouldn’t shoot you or me in a heartbeat for some clout is just naïve💯💯

I live in Iowa and have for about two years now (in Des Moines for one of them). I DoorDash regularly and even did that full time for a bit in Des Moines. To be completely honest, I feel less safe in most of the Waterloo neighborhoods (where I live now) than I did in any neighborhood in Des Moines. In DSM, you can pretty much be unbothered when walking through neighborhoods and such if you just mind your own business and don't engage. But in ALO, I've had a few suspicious and pretty frightening incidents between just being stared at by everybody on the block and getting that sixth sense of "alright it's time to go" or actually having cars with dark tinted windows pull up on me to follow me and then speed off as soon as I get back to my car. I try to avoid those neighborhoods as much as I'm able to when delivering.

If your a regular civilian than no nothing will happen to but if your with this street shit its a completely different story and that’s what most these people dont/wont understand honestly if the streets of DSM could talk all the hood stories shootings bloodshed would surprise most of you mfs but then again you civilians wouldn’t understand so i suggest staying in yalls lanes

Probably was forced to "partner" w/ them and put that lil B's kitchen in there. Having something like that is very valuable to a street gang. As it can function as a means of distrobution, give off the impression of a legitimate income, and ifhey have multiple set up that way it can even work aslow level money laundering situation

And you're not a b*tch for walking away man. You got sweet cheeks and a child to go home to. That's what this country doesn't understand. You don't have to put on a uniform to serve your country. You do it everyday as a good husband, community leader, and soon to be father. Keep spreading the good word bro. The world needs you!!!! 💯

These guys were the most conservative gang members I've ever seen on anything. They were living that life but they knew 100% what was right and wrong and what was the causes for their issues like fatherless homes. Everytime I thought 'here we go with the nonsense' they would back it up with the truth and facts like adults and it just shocked me every time. "Yeah, we're doing this and that but we shouldn't because xyz" crazy

They're not even living a Real Fun ACTUAL Childhood nor Life, No morals No Good role model and not even in the good right Path. Far from those people Who's not violent don't even think violence is cool (Because it isn't) And far from those people actually living an actual "LIFE"
