I own a 2013 ZX14R and claim it is one of the finest motorcycles ever built. I love mine and rue the day I will forced to sell it because of my age. Recently turned 65. It is very fast and no vehicle has ever beat it on the roads.

Had one of these for 8 years 50000 miles with only a wheel bearing changed. As with any superbike or hyperbike if you're concerned with mpg look elsewhere ridden hard will be in 20s 40ish at best. Will also get through tyres rapidly. This is well worth it though a real quality bike you will never tire of cracking that throttle open. Just watch your speed and licence though can do 80 in first

This is truly a great bike. I wanted to trade in my ZX14R for the 2021 KTM Super Duke R but after test riding it, I realised other than agility the ZX14R is such a superior bike in every way. I decided to stay with my ZX until the end

I've ridden the 14 on a couple of occasions and I wholeheartedly agree with your review. It's superb. But it reminds me of the Muscle Car era here in the US. There's nothing like driving a car with a four speed and a big ol' big block engine. They didn't rev and got shit gas mileage but they could lay the power down. Any number of turbo four and six cylinder modern cars could beat them today but you have to ask yourself what is more fun?, smashing something with a carpenters hammer or smashing something with a sledge hammer? I'll take the sledge hammer, so wouldn't you. The zx14 is a sledge hammer. 💥💪

@Anthony Smith nope... verified fact the '14 will put down a 1/4 mile time that will leave an H2 or H2R in the dust... only after about 140 mph will the H2 start to overtake it.

Love my ZZR1400 Not just a one trick pony. Great commuter, tourer or track bike if you have big enough balls. I use mine daily to commute. Over 58k on the clocks and still pulls like a train. Only weak point is paint on the wheels. Like the Honda Blackbird, a modern day classic. Will be missed. Hope Kawasaki have a change of heart.

Your first impressions on this review were my impressions for over a year. I had a Kawasaki ZX 1400 back in 2006, it was stolen in 2007. I have not owned another bike since. I absolutely loved this bike. It is really incredible in every way. I have owned and ride many bikes in my life time. The ZX 1400 is my favorite bike. As big as this bike is it is easier to ride than many smaller bikes, as long as you are great with throttle control. I would really like get another. This is the year if I want a new one.

Are on my 3rd ZZR1400, normally I change every 3-4th year but won't change my 2014 performance sport because I like the paintscheme and it lost 10 hp from 2015 because of Euro4. What I like best with this bike is how easy it handles, the power delivery, even works on a trackday, how you feel like a king on the road when riding it and the look of it especially if you put on a seat cowl its a real headturner. Great review and looking forward to the follow-up

Indeed mate. The 2012-2015 ZX14R was tested by the American EPA at 210.7hp, which means with Ram Air it was producing over 220hp. 2016 and after it lost 10 hp due to Euro 4. Most owners have the ECU flashed anyway which removes the speed restriction and gives another 500rpm.

I had a Gen 1 ZZR1400 doing around 13000 miles in 18 months of ownership, as I don't have a car license I used the big kwack for everything from short town trips to long distance work and it was always a pleasure! It's heartbreaking that Kawasaki is taking the ZZR1400 off the shelves. This motorcycle is way beyond my budget and riding ability but I truly admire it for being an engineering marvel. As we get older, iv bought ZXR1400, put on all i could, ran it on the dino, 211HP, No one needs anymore for cornering and long fun rides. Its been my favorite bike, its not for the faint hearted. I would recommend this bike to even R1's riders or any super bike riders. Off the shop floor and ride yes start away you cant help yourself, but wait until you do mods to improve HP, my God. Great review enjoy

Sold mine recently and bought an H2. Love them both but power delivery is more aggressive on the H2 and it takes a bit more effort to ride, oh, and it doesn't half guzzle the gas! The ZZR is the perfect all-rounder and I wouldn't rule out me getting another one day.

I bought a ZX14 in 2006 when it first came out. I bought it because it fit my 6'2" frame. Nice soft seat, nice leg room. I loved that bike. I lived in NY and put 45k on it in 3 years before selling it to move to Poland. That bike was not made for here. I miss it.... so smooth, so fast....so comfortable. And yes, again... it's fast. Very fast. And quick. And fast.

You always know how fast you are going!!! He he not on this thing. When you compare it with the H2 SX SE model how does it stack up?? I am on m y second ZZR. Had the first gen and then when I was looking for a new bike 2 years ago I looked at Super Duke GT Multistrada 1200, BMW S1000 XR for some fast good handling fun with a decent touring capacity. Although those are all good bikes nothing comes close to the ZZR when you twist the throttle. It's so smooth, fast and incredibly addictive to ride. It truly will be a sad day when they stop making these. Blown engines are great but there really is no replacement for displacement.

I have a 2016 concourse. At this point I have just over 12,000 miles on it. I know...it’s not a ZZR, but the lineage is the same. It is a fast and very comfortable sport touring bike. It will run all day long at 85 mph and in eco mode gets 47.2 mph. Even when I get hard in the mountain roads here in Arkansas, it performs well with a full load of weekend stuff, including the top case from Kawasaki and my 220 lb. a$$ sitting on it. I love my bike and the platform in general. Even at 6’ 5”, I have no trouble riding in comfort all day long. Kudos to Kawasaki for making an excellent machine at an economical price!

I was very close to buying one recently. I hope it continues on in the US for awhile longer. It’s the most underrated sports touring bikes you can buy. It’s easy to ride, comfortable, refined, and a big puppy dog when you want it to be. This bike is beautifully old school while being modern enough. Large displacement high horsepower long wheelbase sport bikes are entirely their own thing. The H2 isn’t at all the same experience. This will still beat any modern 1000cc super bike in a drag race or roll-on highway pull. The torque and the gearing just conquers all, it just doesn’t corner as well. Unfortunately we don’t get the higher screen, Akrapovič or Öhlins in the US, but you can add them. Thankfully we do get the Brembo M50 calipers. If they announce it’s going away here I’ll definitely be trading my Tiger 800 for one.

I bought the standard version this year, I absolutely love it, my only criticism for my bike is the ugly huge exahuasts, nothing that can't be fixed... Beautiful to ride, fast as hell.. I am surprised they never had a centre stand and cruise control wouldnt have gone a miss, however, this is not enough to put me off buying a legend, when you start the bike up, the dials are awsome, sent a video to my mate and the firdt thing he noticed and loved was the dials.. Unless kawasaki can do any better than this in. Years to come.. She will be a keeper.. A big fast sport tourer all the way...

Michael Winter Yes and yes 👍🏻 Gen 1 was torquey and powerful, gen 2 was another step on for sure, the torque is amazing and it really effected the ride-ability, you really know it’s a big motor, right from low in the rev range it pulls like really decently and just builds like a rubber band until you’re hurtling toward the horizon like a demented maniac. The difference from gen 1 to 2 in comfort is the seat is light years better and in combination with 20mm handlebar risers made it truly a comfortable bike to eat miles on, the only thing that I used to feel near the end of the day were my knees used to complain a bit but bare in mind I’m 6’3” tall and my knees aren’t in great shape anyway

Just bought a new one (called ZX14R-SE here in Australia) after two previous generation ZX14. Sold previous one with 144,000km on the clock. These big bikes are fantastic, they can do it all. Tour, fang, track day, commute, pillion, it's really the burger with the lot. Refined, FAST, handle beautifully and they're bulletproof to boot. Fantastic value compared to the H2-SX. Not the prettiest bike, but I also owned a Panigale S - beautiful but I grew to hate it. Not so with this. You just cannot go wrong with these bikes.

Just love this machine. I've had a succesion ofZZR 11s, my last one a D5 which I finally sold in 2011. They're an absolute diamond to ride around town or distance and again mpg would be around the same...............under the ton, 30-40 over a ton you could sit and watch the gauge shift to the empty side. I live abroad now and a new one is a whisker over 20,000 euros, that's a bit over the top for me might try a second hand import from uk though. Great video very well detailed bud thx!

A centre stand is essential on a bike like this if you are touring. This, so you can lube the chain easily and regularly. An essential aspect of modern high powered bikes which very view reviews bother mentioning. I think these ZZR1400s can be ordered with a centre stand as an option, but I stand to be corrected.

Not sure why everyone called them old or "slow by today's standard" it'll gap any Japanese 1000 in a straight line minus the CBR1000RR-R and a H2. I've tested it first hand, not a single issue running away from a GSXR1000 or R1 or ninja 1000. The new gen ninja 1000r is damn close tho. And off the line, in town, nothing comes close, nothing puts the power down while keeping the front wheel down like this. I've got my ecu flashed and it pulls its front tire up at the top of 2nd, 160kph.

Mine got stolen last night. Bike got recovered, but the thief fried the electrical system when he botched trying to steal the battery and accidentally cut the insulation on the positive battery cable and it contacted the aluminum frame. Must have scared the crap out of him to have a battery almost go off in his hands and I imagine the spark & plasma arc from the aluminum frame must have been impressive, because they abandoned it immediately. Bike gets taken to the shop in a few more hours to get a repair estimate, but I have top-shelf insurance, so either they fix my bike, or I get to shop for a new one of equal retail price.

I’m 6’3” and getting older now the only thing that ever really reared its head comfort wise was it was tight enough in the knees for me but not everyone will find that an issue naturally. I did have 20mm bar riser blocks on both my gen 1 and gen 2 and for a small outlay it made it perfect

I'm 6'4 and rode one for 10 years and 100K KM. in the beginning, 600-1000 km days, no problem! 10 years on and getting up in age, can't do it anymore and had to sell to get something a little more comfortable. If you're younger and in decent shape go for it! You've love the bike. No problems in 10 years. Just oil and tires. Cam chain tensioner did make a hell of a racket on cold starts but it was just an annoyance.

The aero is why I'll probably never buy a litre bike again (or just for the odd trip out if I do); it's nice being in a smooth, calm aerodynamic bubble all day. Compared to a small race bike with the wind slapping you right in the throat while you're giving it some beans, that's bloody tiring.

I'll take this old beast over any Origami H2 version. Nothing like an understressed 1441cc engine pushing a big blob thru the air. As others said, the beginning of the end for big bore sport bikes. Just like a 1970 Challenger 426 HEMI or a 1970 Chevelle SS 454, these existed once and never will again. Same faith awaits this bike and the Hayabusa 1340 (I don't think we'll ever see the much talked but yet to be seen 3rd Gen). Grab one while you can, folks, they are going extinct.

That is very sad news they are going to stop producing zzr's.I say it as long years owner of 14's. I hope they will make zzr supercharged as H2.That would be awsome. I currently own 4th zzr1400 and my experience exceeded expectations I had.Smooth power delivery, very comfortable, stable on the road, well made motorcycle with quality components.Bike also is well prepared to carry luggage and handles well on corners.As fuel consuption for such big engine is not to bad either. I do not think performance edition is worth spending that money. Those Acro cans are heavy as hell and double bubble screen costs peanuts. I made carbon cans for my ZZ myself.They sound good and are light like a feather.

I have a H2 but I'm looking for a ZX14R Because I love long distance riding, and the H2 isn't the bike for all day riding, even though my bike has more power at the wheel than this has at the crank. Hate the paint on this one though ☹ but after having 3 Hayabusas I'm looking forward to having the momma bear in the garage.

Since it seems that Suzuki is actually going to heavily update the Hayabusa, would Kawasaki update this or are they just letting Suzuki have the segment to themselves since Kawasaki has the H2 series?
@Fearless154
@Fearless154 4 жыл бұрын
I won't hold my breath for the update to Hayabusa. Hayabusa is going to discontinue too after 2020 in the US, in European, it's done since 2017, Suzuki clearly said we should not be waiting for the update. If you ask me Suzuki has bigger problems than Hayabusa right now all of their lineup of motorcycles are very behind in term of technology and features and specs from all other Japanese bikes. First, they must update the gsxr1000 it's too old and not as good of a track superbike as others basically it's selling point is being good road sportbike which is kinda lame for superbike of that calibre especially if they want to come close ever again to wsbk. Suzuki needs to be more like Yamaha ignore the "speed war" which Kawasaki has always been the kings of speed and should focus more to make actual good superbike and naked lineup as well as adv.
