Vista Murrieta Golden Alliance performs their 2011 marching band show Ascension (Original composition by Randy Dulaney) at the 2011 MBOS Championships in Chino Hills, CA. The Golden Alliance took 1st place at the competition with the highest score in MBOS history. (90.35)

MBoS is a very young california-based circuit, and Vista Murrieta is a very young california band. not to mention, different circuits use different sheets. older calfornia-based circuits like WBA and SCSBOA tend to record their champions above 95 points every year.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I fully understand. My band was one of the youngest in our class and we would compete against bands that have been competing since the 60's and the 70's and have establish a strong presents. Plus they would be the bands that would win state and out preform many bands in BOA.

Sorry for a late chime in but since MBOS is so new still it means that the bands in participation haven't mastered how to design/play to the sheets just yet. Older circuits have bands that know how to play the game which is why scores are higher in more mature circuits. Look at DCI scores from the 70s-80s. Winners were in the 80s. No one broke a 90 for a while because of this and the tic system

I really hope the leadership for the GA got better after I left. Wade was a bully, and enabled others that held leadership in the band to be bullies as well. He made my life hell when I was in the golden alliance. Band in high school is supposed to be hard work, but fun. Instead Wade pushed a depressed girl even farther down. I would never let my future children join a band like this (at least at the time I was there), where the director cared nothing about the well-being of his students, as long as they won.

KaceyKarma Hey, I know you had a bad band experience, trust me I know how you feel, my freshman year was really bad. But you have to understand Wade. He is REALLY passionate about this sport and REALLY particular with what he wants in his bands, and wants to build people, through this sport. His dedication and others dedication to this program doesn't make them seem like nice people, but getting to know these people and Wade makes everything clear. They all want to achieve something AMAZING. Through performance, and no other sport in the world could emulate that.

Leadership has gotten better. I don't know who you're describing now, but certainly not the Donald Wade of today. I'm sure he's learned from the past and I would hope you do the same. By comparing your description to my personal experience of him now, you have a very skewed perception of Mr. Wade. He has more trophies than he could ever want, so believing that winning is his only motivating factor is quite incorrect. Often times his drive to be the best we can be, can be misinterpreted as wanting to win. Winning is a bi-product of individual success among a group. Also, I find it somewhat unfair to hold such a strong grudge and then publicly condemn things that happened what, over 10 years ago? And yes I realize your comment is 3 years old and was likely posted in the midst of everyone denouncing Mr. Wade as a nazi and ruining the program. Which just makes the timing of your comment so much more ironic as it is very spiteful lol.
