I am so glad that Dorsa is sharing her story. So many of us are dealing with it or living with it. So, I'm glad that all of us are coming out of the closet, and we are making connections with others. Know that you are not alone, Dorsa. You are just one of the many of us. I'm so glad that I found VSI. It helps me deal with living my life and knowing that I am not alone.

Can you link the information about where it says it could be a form of synesthesia?

It's more specifically static for me too, like video grain. Migraines were a big thing for me too. I got anisocoria that switches sides too

I’ve had synesthesia in my whole life, and probably a mild form of visual snow. But as I’ve gotten older and had more, let’s just say, accidents… It has gotten much much worse. Some people say it can also be related to cervical neck instability. Concussions. Migraines. All in all it is a brain issue and I wish I could control it. There are some aspects of it that I find to be an advantage. Like when I look at a phone number and it’s still there when I go to retrieve it and make the phone call lol or doing math problems, or remembering a grocery list… :-)

The background of the object thing happens to me too! For me it's like one of those glitch effect filters people put on their photos. I see red and green bluish outlines around objects. It's like one of those 3d books but trying to read them without the 3d glasses.

After I forced use my vision constantly to read (near focus), around 4 year ago, after that, I got VSS. Detail, my right eye is very compromised and for reading I have to stop use the contact lenses (+ - 14°) in this eye. Maybe I can help in this studies... I already have 2 image of 🧠

I have had visual snow my whole life and I did not know it wasn't normal until a few years ago. There has always been a layer of tv static over my whole field of vision and it gets way worse at night or in the dark. I find the part about synesthesia very interesting because when I listen to music in the dark, I can see distinct patterns forming in the static and I don't experience this during the day when the static is less prominent. While I know this is not synesthesia because I don't think I am seeing the same pattern every time I listen to the same song, I have always found this interesting and I have not seen anyone else talk about it.
