One of the things I have liked about KZbin factual content so far in comparison with TV is the absence of padding. These alternating episodes have about a minute and a half of recap at the start to skip, skip, skip through. This is getting like TV - I know I'm not alone. Please keep the signal to noise ratio UP, since you don't have to meet a set-time slot, and people largely subscribe, and a ten second summary and an inline link to the previous show will cover those who don't. This format can be better than TV.
@sirzebra6 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, i'll even add that dumbing down physics along with poor choice of words from the author and the lack of time he had to explain made this really painfull to watch. If you look at most of the comments, everyone felt his speech was "sketchy" it made him sound like some new age stoner when he actually talks about two very real physics phenomenons, he just had 0 time to explain his words and their meaning... I could pass on the 5th grade jokes if the point is to learn something, it's really wasted potential.

@IanCookUS6 жыл бұрын
@@andrewevenson7798 rotational energy is transferred into a force opposing the movement of the water (why it slows) and transferred into heat as well
@andrewevenson77986 жыл бұрын
Ian Cook, not sure what you are getting at because all the energy in your system still seems to be on earth. I decided to look it up. “The Earth's rotation is slowing down from rotational energy transfer to the moon's orbit through tides. The moon is very slowly increasing its orbital radius.” This is what I could find, so earth’s rotational energy is being transferred into the moon through the moon’s gravity having an effect on earth’s tides. Honestly, just a dumbed down quick explanation. I’d have to do more research to fully understand the transfer of energy going on.

Scott Manley, ObsidianAnt, Gav and Dan, the accent, and definitely their passion for explaining this kind of stuff makes it really easy to tune in and appreciate the huge slew of information they’re giving you. I guess it’s because I live in America, it’s easy to tune out (even if I don’t want to) one of those typical American accents unless it’s like Morgan Freeman or something. "frequencies from sun and moon" You must be talking about gravity, right? Space has no medium for any type of sound frequency as demonstrated in this video to travel through. Also, a video of how particles react to different frequencies on a thin platter was done by a band a few years ago, and the tune is really catchy. You SlowMo Guys always put out awesome content, but this video seemed more like this guy trying to hawk his book than it did a SlowMo guys video.

Agree...I was a bit puzzled by his analogy of the sine wave signal generator demonstration .... as being like "vibrations from the sun and moon." Some of us are wondering what vibrations is he talking about....and frequencies....I wasn't aware the sun and moon "vibrate" at specific frequencies ...and how does that effects Earth's tides??? And how is this vibrational energy transferred through the vacuum of Space...all the way to the Earth?
