I just recently ceramic coated both of our vehicles which I take very good care of, and both are garage kept. Each vehicle took 13 man hours. Here’s-the steps I took. Foam cannon, then rinsed after about 7 minutes. Foam cannon again and used 3 different mitts and the two bucket method. All black plastic trim cleaned with all purpose cleaner and a drill brush. Iron X application, followed by rinse, then clay bar treatment. Prep shampoo, then isopropyl alcohol entire vehicle. 2 coats of ceramic coating. 48 hrs to cure before I drove. I enjoy detailing but am not a detailer.

I have my own detailing biz and you have done an excellent job on explaining to clients what they need to be aware of as well as what is included to make the final decision! I have been talking to clients and possible clients using the same (almost) material you have mentioned! It is always great for your clients and yourself as a Pro detailer to educate them prior to doing the work! Thanks!

Good video. I’ll just keep doing wax on wax off. It’s therapy for me. Plus a good reason to stay out of the house on a beautiful day.

There's no better joy than getting up at O'dark thirty ( roughly 4:30am) on a nice spring or early summer morning and washing the car, then spend about 5 hours detailing it.

Would any of these paint correction stages include something like small rock chippings that have started to rust?

Dealer tried to sell me a 5yr tri-polamer coating, said it wasn't ceramic, and interior coating with 5yr warranty against stains and tears for $800. It was for a chevy silverado 1500 4 x 4. Not sure if they clay bar or not.

Great job. I went to a detailer that I trust (been dealing with him for over 20 years) to inquire about ceramic pro coatings. He gave the some basic information. After briefly looking at my car he gave me an estimated starting price that was in line with your comments. He highly suggested that I view some videos to see what I was getting into, and then come back to get discuss the job. You gave me just the detailed information that I needed. Now I have a better understanding of how get the job done that I want and can afford.

I wouldn't touch a detailer doing any correction and coating for $400, for a proper 1 step correction and coating and a multiple year coating I would say the minimum is $800.

Im starting my journey in specific plastic trim coating & more. Im practicing prep, & application, but have no clue what a standard client vehicle should be charged for...$125, $150+.😅 Bumbers, grills, hood vents, side mirrors, door handles, rear step platforms, side window pillars. Extra....low & long side panels, truck pillars & rail coverings.

If I drop my vehicle off to a detailer … how do I know they put a ceramic coating on and not just a clay bar and good wax?
@VisualProDetailing2 жыл бұрын
Clay bar and wax will be gone after the first couple of washes. Also, choose a reputable detailer who is well reviewed, certified, and treats you how they want to be treated.

Size of the vehicle and the actual cost of the ceramic coat is only 20% of the cost. What costs the most is the labor charge by the detailers, which goes up into the thousands. A car detailer near me quoted me $1700 grand for everything. I told him I'll pass.

Thanks for the info, it definitely helped me out. i’m going to get my car done at Ziebart and it’s a seven year guaranteed with a warranty. When I went into get more information and find out how much it’s going to be I was shocked because they want a grand for my type of car. With your info I feel like I’m not getting screwed over, thanks again!

Hi, so what does Ceramic coating do ? is it scratch approve ? for example if someone key your car, would Ceramic coating protect the car?
@VisualProDetailing6 жыл бұрын
sunnyboy8644 No, it is not scratch proof. It is more resistant to washed based marring such as swirl marks than standard clear coat. Nothing will prevent keying from scratching your car.

Hello, I am exploring the possibility of getting a touring Harley Davidson bike coated. Watching your video has been very informative. According to my eye, I know of only a couple minor spots where there are minor light scratches on saddlebags and on the top of the tour pak. Do you have any experience with coating bikes and under the best conditions on the best coating package (5-7 years from what I heard in video)? Just ball park range. I don’t expect accuracy sight unseen. I’m most interested in scratch resistance and paint protection from washing.
@VisualProDetailing5 жыл бұрын
Hi Meghan. Depending on who is installing your coating, which coating they are applying, and how much prep work the bike needs it could easily be $750 - $1500 for correction and coating on a bike.

@edwinmedina43384 жыл бұрын
If it is a single stage polish and a coating on the paint that sounds about right! Are you getting a 2 year? 5 year or anything longer lasting than the 5 years! Hows your paint?! If they dont address scratches and problem areas or point out everything involved ask...I take time with customers about the expectations of what they are investing in, very important.

I have a question. Reading about several quality coatings (GTECHNIQ Crystal Serum Lite, Crystal Serum Ultra, Ceramic Pro, Opt--coat, Brillo and the like it seems that realistically (dependent on how often you wash and where you live) that 3 years is really the maximum amount of time these coating effectually last. The five to seven year claims of some companies have somewhat been debunked by chemists and some professional paint shops as slightly exaggerated. And most importantly these coatings only moderately do anything beyond some very basic protection of the paint. They do not protect from chips, only from car wash brushes and some UV protection. Their main function is to make your car more Hydrophobic for easier cleaning and maintain a little bit of a higher gloss look to it. The "ceramic" coatings are only going to moderately help your paint out. The best way to protect your car is using a clear bra (3M etc). I had the entire front end of my car and my bumper professionally wrapped by an amazing local company with clear film by 3M for $2200. A company to do my whole car in a ceramic coating (they are not actually ceramic polymers) would be around $1500 but the self healing 3M clear wrap truly does protect my car to a greater degree. It's not going to protect it from everything, but certainly infinitely better than some chemical coating. The rest of my car (rear quarter panel, trunk) I did with GTECHNIQ Crystal Serum Light). The CSL is 9H and the Crystal Serum Ultra is 10H so slightly harder after it dries. But if you do three coats of 9H your probably pretty close to the 10H coating.

What would be very helpful to folks like me as we are researching whether we want to ceramic coat our vehicles is for the business to offer photos of various cars they've done with different levels of protection, and what the customer paid for each. I don't need to know the cost to the penny - just round numbers would be fine. To quote a wide range of between $900-$2000+ is pretty much useless.
@VisualProDetailing3 жыл бұрын
The pricing will vary greatly depending on who is doing it, what product they are using, the condition of the vehicle, and the customers expectation. I cannot put a price one other peoples work.
@davidfox53623 жыл бұрын
@@VisualProDetailing Understood, but any experienced detailer knows approx what a customer is going to pay for their particular car to have it coated...once you've coated a dozen or more Corvettes, I'm sure you know. Nothing pisses me off more than to go to website of someone offering a service of some kind but then NO prices anywhere...like it's a big secret. Just provide some examples of your work, what was involved, and the price charged...it's not that hard.
@VisualProDetailing3 жыл бұрын
@@davidfox5362 that price will vary by *thousands* depending on your location and the variables I mentioned. I could throw a number that is tremendously higher than someone starting out or using a different product. This video is to help people understand the variables so they can go out and get quotes and understand the differences, I cannot set a pricing standard for the entire industry.
@davidfox53623 жыл бұрын
@@VisualProDetailing Never asked for a pricing standard for the entire industry. Asked for some photos of cars that were coated, and the prices charged for THOSE SPECIFIC CARS. Example, "Here's a photo of a Corvette recently coated - it needed a single stage paint correction, and when all was said and done, the price I charged was $1500" or whatever the price was. I just find it hard to believe that providing customers basic, general pricing information they need to decide if they can afford the service is too difficult. Don't bother responding, I can already tell from your previous comments we disagree on this. Good luck with your business.
@khronin2 жыл бұрын
@@davidfox5362 Yeah same thing--I can not seem to get a price out of these guys.One place offers 3 packages and thats what should be done.You would have a much better business model if you did that--just use 3 products in 3 difffrent ranges and stick with it.A honda CRV--Mazda CX-30 and a Nissan kicks should all be the same price for a basic ceramic--they are built within 2 inches of each other as far as dimensions and can not get a set price and some even have diffrent prices--I think this leaves these folks open to literally make up a price on the day to get whatever profit they can get.BTW I detailed cars in the 90s and had all my prices on one page and also used diffrent products--use turtle wax and you car was 100 dollars to wax midsize or smaller--you want meguiars--175--prices go up 15% as each vehicle class goes above midsize--I never had a problem getting a quote within a few dollars and would let folks know the price would fluctuate by 10%--but to say 900 to 2000 is ridiculous.BTW vettes are actually easy to do cause you can reach everywhere because of them being low.I wanted to get one professional ceramic coating in the 500 dollar range--then I plan on yearly doing a light spray on one before each winter.

What material do you use for maintenance washes, like ceramic gold tells you to buy their sport spray, is there a universal application that supports the coating ?
@VisualProDetailing6 жыл бұрын
Joe Smith it is best to stick to whichever "maintenance" product the company your vehicle is coated with sells. Other products may work, but staying within the product family always yields best results.
@JoeSmith-gj8bn6 жыл бұрын
Visual Pro Detailing ok I appreciate the quick reply. I understand that buying OEM maintenance spray is always “best”. But have you used or had clients use products like Dr Beasley’s gloss Nano spray or similar products like carpro reload for maintenance? I guess I’m asking your opinion on what ceramic product do you feel is best value for product you initially get as well as value of using maintenance sprays and cost of upkeep going forward?
@VisualProDetailing6 жыл бұрын
Joe Smith I've used IGL Premier, Gtechniq C2v3, and Carpro reload all with good results. Of those 3 I would say reload is the most finicky with the least durability.
