For stews, it's probably best to use the multi cooker because you can make both rice AND stews. Unless you're asking if you can make stews in ANY rice cooker? If so, see my other response on that comment.

You probably can but you'd have to experiment with water ratios and be around for the first time or two to ensure all is well. Especially if using a clay rice cooker because it's super important to have plenty of liquid in the pot.
