The cool thing about this is, this is a synth everyone watching can have. And there so much sound-shaping and modulation possible, that basically none of us will end up with the same patches. Even if we have the recipe, the temptation is too strong... the recipe will change itself. Anyway, this generative patch sounds fantastic, man!

Yep, precisely. I'm kinda tempted to release a bunch of patches like this and claim it is an album :D Because yes, everybody can play it, just pick a note and chill :)

I love this. If you could make a video going through how you made this I'd be very grateful. Keep up the excellent work.

Thank you very much :) Yes, I'll definitely make a video about it next week

Hi there! Greetings from Italy (I presume you’re Italian too :-). First of all, I want to thank you for your video on Vital and Surge XT. I really appreciate your style and dedication in explaining things. You might be one of the best when it comes to sharing synth programming workflows! About this video (generative music made with Vital): I know it’s an older video, but have you continued exploring these capabilities? I confess, the soundscapes you created (or should I say the machine created?) are pretty unique and interesting. They have a kind of eerie, unsettling quality, much more so than typical "cinematic" horror music with ghostly voices. Your sounds remind me of something from a sci-fi scene where a computer tries to "remember" something created by humans, recalling wars and disasters. Odd, but I admit, hypnotic in a way. Here’s my request: I’ve returned to making ambient music (I used to make it with guitars two decades ago - see Solyaris Music, Giorgio Robino), and I’m more into tonal or interval "consonances" now (if that makes sense to you). I’d be curious to see how to make something generative like you did, but perhaps more tonal, or a blend of both. Have you already done something like that? Anyway, please keep making videos. They’re absolutely valuable. Thanks again, Giorgio

Last year I made a patch on Pigments that featured three LFOs in a modulation ring, creating chaos that I used to modulate stuff like comb filters. It was pretty nice, but THIS is a whole new level. I do have Vital but haven't spent much time with it yet. I'd love to see how you arrived at this! Please do a breakdown video, that would be awesome.

I would like to see how you set this up. Sounds astonishing to say the least.

Actually, I shared it on the Vital forum, though it's a 1.5 patch. Anyway, I'm doing a video next week to show the basic idea behind it.

This sounds a bit like early music made by ambient musician Forrest Fang. I'd love it if you could show how to create a polyrhythmic generative patch, if such a thing is possible with Vital. Enjoyed these otherworldly sounds a lot!
@platipo2 жыл бұрын
yes, it is definitely possible; this somehow is a polyrythmic patch, it's just too "sparse" for such aspect to be dominating. If you're into that kind of thing, and you know, sequences which are somehow a bit more deterministic, I have made a video on the topic some time ago.

Excellent! Would love to see what you've done here or even watching you start a new one would be cool.

That's the plan! for what I've done here, you can grab the patch on the Vital Forum, for my 2 cents on making one from scratch, you just have to wait sometime this upcoming week :)

you can have it; I posted it on a topic on the Vital forum
@@platipo Great, thanks. I was hoping you would share the patch. I started using Vital a couple years ago, but have mostly shifted to VCV Rack. Your patch has rekindled some interest in working with Vital.

I wished 1.5.1 would work on my computer, but it is to old. Mike has made the mac version with newer features, that don’t run on older macs. But…. lately I have been expirimenting with phaseplant and that has a lot possibilities as well. I like this tho…. Would like to see what you did. Very relaxing.

It'd probably make little sense to get explaining this very patch in a video, but soon, I'll be making a video to explain somehow the thought process that went into it :) I hope to make it as informative and enjoyable as it can be

I make Dark Ambient (anything dark really 🤣) music, mostly all analog hardware, some vsts and a bit of Reason11. This is awesome, I got to try this! Check out my stuff if you have a second. Peace and thanks! Wishing all of you sound hunters a great tripped out journey 😂🤘
