As someone who suffers from body dysmorphia and an eating disorder partially because of growing up looking at Victoria’s Secret models this video is extremely appreciated. It’s important for people to know that for many models being in that shape is unnatural and involves extreme restriction. I also appreciate you opening up about how toxic VS was about body image. The company had a lot of influence on my generation (I’m 24) with models all with size 0 portrayed as extremely happy strong athletes when in secret many had to adhere to extreme diets and work out routines to the point of having health issues. I’m happy you got better 💛💛

Yesss it’s a sad truth😕 On the beginning VS was all about sexy and curvy models idk why with time models got to be slimmer lol

We all want to fit in and look like the current “role models” but in reality you cannot and will not ever please everyone. I’m 32 and I’ve been small my entire life. In high school I was a size 00 and now I’m a size 1 or 2. It’s genetics for me and so hard to gain weight because I have a fast metabolism. From my dads side we’re just all small. Im 5”4 so I’m not a tall girl either. Im just petite. But being the size most people supposedly wanted to be yet they made me feel awful. They would ask me if I eat or to go eat a cheeseburger 🤦♀️. I’ve never had an issue with food or counting calories and I actúa eat a lot for someone so small. Now that I’m older I don’t mind being small and I’m more confident because it’s more about how I feel or see myself, not how others see you. Once you understand that you won’t necessarily be super confident but you will feel good about yourself.

This winter I was at my lowest . ( two months I had to detach from social media ( I play social media in China ) and focus on myself . My body reacted by bloating horribly at first as I tried to find balance . I feel like now … for the most part, I’m on the right track . Videos like this , your honesty .. they just encourage me all the more . Thank you for sharing with us ( KZbin family ) . Right literally no food makes u gain weight. It pisses me of how everyone demonizes calories and thinks xyz is bad and unhealthy like no. It literally isn’t. Low calorie isn’t healthy and ofc u will feel guilty after eating if u created food rules and then break them. It’s not the food that’s bad it’s how YOU perceive it and the fact that we live in a society that is obsessed with rigid rules, low calorie, tracking food and praises ppl who are under eating and over exercising. Like disordered eating and excessive exercise being at your thinness and skinniest ( bc society is fat phobic and puts ppl who are skinny on pedestals like skinny is the ideal and your self worth is defined by your appearance unfortunately aka fat phobia bc skinny is better than anything ) is glamorized and eating less, moving more, burning off food and saving up calories is so normal and ppl fear eating more bc weight gain is “bad” like such bs bc it’s soon unhealthy and disordered ahhhh… it’s not your ideal weight if u restrict, shrink your body, are food obsessed and have to walk x amount and have to exercise all the time and burn off the food with movement. It’s just disordered and fucked up

Thank-you for doing a video like this, one that is more transparent, personal, and offers helpful advise, wisdom, habits. Majority of women have been in awe of these VS icons but, by the same token, you also walk away feeling really crappy. It's refreshing to hear what your struggles were, with regard to body image, weight fluctuation, not feeling your best, etc. We're already our worst critic, then to make matters even worse, there's criticism from outside sources. Even with all the body inclusivity campaigns, the struggle to be skinnier, leaner, slimmer, etc., it's always a nagging whisper in one's head. Anyway, thank-you again for your candor.

I've never care about my weight, but I really understand girls who struggle with this "problem" - I mean, it's not your problem actually, but the society pressure and expectations mostly. If you find the balance inside, nothing outside can attract on you. This is the key. Our body is changing, but people still want us to look their opinions "healthy" and "great". But it is not only about the weight, but everything about your appearance and feeling good. Thank you for honest discussion, Vita!🙏❤

Hi Vita! I am 18 years old and last year while I was preparing for uni entrance exam (I am Turkish btw) started to lose weight. Cause of stress etc. then I thought that all my entire life I tried to get lean(?) or lose weight but I had appetite like hell. Then realized that this stress can be a chance for me to loose weight. And I started to restrict more in terms of what I eat. Even the food I used to love. And counting calories… wasn’t going over 600 cal a day and walking like 15.000 steps, doing yoga and work outs a lot. Then I went to my dream uni which is one of the best in Turkey with %100 scholarship. While I was away from home this gotten worse. I was hardworking, not sleeping, not eating and also smoking. And one day at school I fell off. Literally my leg couldn’t even carry me. Then hospitalized and when they weighted me I was 21 kilos. And I am 167 cm. And I have fast metabolism(still). had to give a break from school. Like a year. And I learned that I was the first of my class and my exam results. But then realized that this success is nothing when you don’t have health. I am right now trying to gain weight. And after months I finally started to see a change on scale. This is still hard for me but food is fuel and it is what makes memories and happiness health.. Guys out there if anyone suffering from unhealthy relationship with food you are not alone. Just think about your future, friends, family, dreams and maybe even the good things you will tell your children or grandchildren. While remembering the life you have lived as a gratitude, why we spend our lives for nothing(?) Life is short and there’s days that we gonna spend with joy.. Love you btw a lot🤍🥰

Hey! I really appreciate you opening up and being so candid about your history (and how toxic the modelling industry can be). As someone currently trying to recover from severe anorexia, it’s really refreshing to hear you talk about balance! The only point I personally disagreed with was when you spoke about “junk food” and “food that’s not even food”, as personally, I think even these can and should be part of a broader balance. Not every day, sure, but the odd “junk” meal or takeout is imo perfectly fine, and can be enjoyed as a part of a life with no restrictions, and eaten alongside lots of colour and nutrients. Idk, I just feel that labelling, demonising and banning certain things as “not even food” sorta feeds into the good/bad dichotomy you were talking about. But anyway, those are only my thoughts! X

I was in the modeling world too for a while. I had other health issues (not ED) that did affect my experience as well so I know how it feels to be low and struggle within an industry that has a hyper focus on how you look instead of how you feel. The irony is VS took a 360 and now has curvy models on their billboards. VS feels super inauthentic and I’d never support them again. I’d almost rather them focus on outer beauty than be hypocrites. :)

You know, it takes a lot of guts to share what you shared in this video. I love your honesty and just keeping it real. I went to your Instagram page. You should put a link to it in the description of your videos. I love the beautiful pictures. I want to try and make your smoothie with chia seeds and have questions. Do you soak both the dates and cashews? For how long? How long did you let the chia seeds and water sit so that it expands? I make strawberry chia jam on the stove but don't have to soak the seeds. Sometimes the seeds don't expand and I then will buy new ones. Thanks again for sharing. You have such a good heart.

Thank you ❤️ Just added the link - you are right I usually leave chia seeds soaked overnight - that’s the only way it will expand. 😊

i love this video and those advices so much!!!! although i struggle with overeating and overweight myself, these advices work for that case also... no matter the eating disorder is, we all are trying to get back to normal eatin habits:). eating normal is the hardest thing to achieve. most of the time its pendeling between overeating and restrictive diets.. this “fat” VS photo looks so beautyful to me:)). but viewers dont know the stories behind the photos we see

❤️ I know it’s not easy, and it’s always about putting the work and gather as much information as possible about food and our bodies.

I used to be thin like you (I am 179 cm tall). I gained some weight due to hormones, but when I want to loose some weight, I do what you told. I can't go on strict diet, because I would die from hunger 😁and I have got a lot of stomach acid, anyway, so I can't do intermittent fasting. So I have to eat, but I listen to my body. I eat when I am hungry and what I need/want. So when I want a bit of chocolate or sweets, I eat them. But when I want to eat vegetables/fruit, I eat them. And it works. Yes, and an important note - I can't stress about eating. That stress doesn't help with losing weight at all.

Absolutely ! Be patient with yourself and your body , and after a while you will notice a shift where body is no more in stressed mode. That’s when it’s really become easy to control the diet 😊

Just watched your video. How can bookers recommend you to not eat? Thats just insane! The model industry is too tough and unreasonable. Happy that you are feeling better now although honestly to me you are still very thin! Love your videos 🙂

Telling underage girls to not eat should be illegal, they need to pay for this! Fashion industry needs new laws. Thanks for sharing your story, you look healthy and gorgeous now
